American Idol contestant Phillip Phillips, who will compete against Jessica Sanchez for the new Idol title next week, apparently needs surgery immediately for his kidney condition.

The singer’s personal doctor is seriously worried about his health as Phillip looked horrible, tired and wasn’t properly eating during his hometown visit last week.

Phillip is this close to becoming the next Idol, so he decided to put his health on hold until after the big finale on Tuesday/Wednesday (May 22/23). The contestant will have to go under the knife as soon the Idol curtain closes.

A couple of months ago, Phillips was taken to the hospital during rehearsals, but he was back in time to perform. He has also missed some of the show’s field productions due to his condition.

Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to make your dreams come true. We hope Phillip knows what he is doing. We wish him the best of luck, and a quick and fast recovery.
