Who’s the next American Idol? The two finalists, Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillip, faced off for one last time in three challenging rounds (Simon Fuller’s choice, encore and winner’s song rounds) of performances during the American Idol season 11 big finale on Tuesday (May 22).

After tough months of competition and a few shocking eliminations, the Idol finale brings us an interesting battle between the “big old voice” (Jessica) and the “musical artist” (Phillips). I wish we could have had a Phillip Phillips vs. Joshua Ledet finale.

Anyhow, Jessica impressed the judges in the first and second rounds of performances, but it was Phillip who earned the only standing ovation of the night for his performance of the winner’s song “Home.” Personally, I think the former pawnshop worker deserves to take the Idol title home.
