Warner Bros. has just released the first official trailer for the upcoming movie “The Great Gatsby,” a romantic drama directed by Baz Luhrmann, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway (watch trailer below).

Carraway’s voiceover: “New York, 1922. The tempo of the city had changed sharply, the buildings were higher, the parties were bigger, the morals were looser and the liquor was cheaper. The restlessness approached hysteria.”

The movie tells the story of a young Carraway, who moves from Minnesota to New York, to live next door to a mysterious millionaire named Jay Gatsby, who’s best known for throwing big extravagant parties, in the spring of 1922.

“The Great Gatsby” will hit theaters on Christmas’ Day (December 25, 2012).
