Jessica Sanchez vs. Phillip Phillips: Who Will Win American Idol season 11?

Tonight is the night! One of lucky and talented finalists, Phillip Phillips or Jessica Sanchez, will be announced as the winner of the eleventh season of American Idol in a big final results show held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Wednesday night (May 23).

After a night with three rounds of performances on Tuesday (May 22), it’s hard to predict who will take the crown tonight. Steven Tyler dared to say he thinks Phillip might steal the show. However, this season had some real tough competition and a few shocking surprises like the elimination of Joshua Ledet last week.

Jessica might have won the first two rounds of performances, but it was Phillip who closed the show with a remarkable performance of the original song “Home,” which earned him the only standing ovation of the night.

Who do you think will win? On one hand, I really want Jessica to win to break the circle of “guys with guitars” take Idol title. And on the other hand, I feel like Phillip really does deserve to win because he is already such a unique artist. Can they both win?

At the moment, Bumpshack readers give the Idol crown to Jessica (60%), while Phillips falls not far behind with 40% of the votes.

UPDATE: Here we go! The Top 12 perform “Runaway Baby” by Bruno Mars. The judges are introduced, then the finalists come out. New record: 132 million votes!

UPDATE 2: Phillip Phillips is the first to take over the stage with a special guest, John Forgety, to perform CCR’s classics “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” and “Bad Moonrising.” Then  Joshua Ledet returns to the stage to perform Elton John‘s “Take Me To The Pilot” with a special appearance by Fantasia Barrino.

UPDATE 3: The girls of the Top 12 perform a medley and are joined on stage by the one and only Chaka Khan. Blah. Cars for everybody! Rihanna finally takes the stage to perform the latest single “Where Have You Been.”

UPDATE 4: Skylar Laine returns to the Idol stage to perform “Turn On The Radio” with Reba McEntire. Jessica Sanchez reprises her performance of Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You.”

UPDATE 5: The guys of the Top 12 sing a Neil Diamond medley. In honor of judge Randy Jackson, the Top 12 sings the phone book, literally! It’s time for Jennifer Lopez to take over the stage!

UPDATE 6: Ace Young proposes to Diana DeGarmo live! Wow. I was hoping she would say NO. Hollie Cavanagh and Jordin Sparks perform “Never Walk Alone.” And next the guys of the Top 12 sing a tribute to Robin Gibbs.

UPDATE 7: Jessica Sanchez and Jennifer Holliday sing “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going.” Next is Steven Tyler killing it on the Idol stage. Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips sing together…. it’s finally time for the new American Idol winner to be revealed!
