The new American Idol, Phillip Phillips, who was crowned the winner of the eleventh season of the FOX’s talent show last week, confessed that he would not have made it without the unconditional support of his girlfriend Hannah Blackwell.

“She’s very excited for me. She’s helped me out a lot through this. Maybe she will be able to come on tour with me, it would be cool to have her there. She’s supported me throughout all this. I love her to death.”

As for fans being disappointed with his status, Phillips says it’s all about the music and not about who he is dating. And if the fans cannot understand and support him, then they were never really big fans of his music at all.

“I mean if it’s a girl who thinks I’m cute and then gets mad that I have a girlfriend, then she doesn’t really like the music,” Phillip confessed.

“I’m all about the music, man. I’m not trying to be some cute guy who is trying to be successful off that. I really want the music to come first. I’m really trying to feel it and have fun.”

Phillip also recently admitted that he almost decided to drop out of the competition due to his kidney problem. The Idol will soon go under the knife, but promised to be back and ready to rock for the American Idol summer tour.

“Yeah like I said, I came close to dropping out to get the surgery done,” he added, “but the doctors helped me out a lot through it.”

“My right kidney kind of isn’t functioning. I have a stent in there to help with that, just kind of have to get that fixed.”
