American Idol season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips, did not go under the knife for his scheduled kidney surgery on Tuesday (May 29). He was forced to postpone surgery for his congenital kidney condition because he developed a fever.
The fever was reportedly triggered by a bad sinus infection. Phillip went through very long and tough weeks of competition on Idol with a debilitated kidney that required eight surgeries to the present date.
Phillip’s condition, which leads to the production of kidney stones too large to pass through, required a stent that was surgically inserted a couple of months ago. That means the Idol has been in extreme and continuous pain throughout the competition.
After almost dropping out of the competition, Phillip beat fellow contestant Jessica Sanchez to win the Idol title last week. The singer recently confessed he could not have done it without the full support of his family, friends and the love of his life – girlfriend, Hannah Blackwell.
Phillip’s surgery has been rescheduled for early next week. The Idol promised to be back and better than ever just in time for the beginning of the 2012 American Idol summer tour.
