Actress Teri Hatcher returns to the screen with a recurring role on ABC Family’s “Jane By Design.” The 47 year-old, who will appear in four episodes of the second part of the first season, was also given the opportunity to direct one episode (sneak peek pics/video below).

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to direct,” Hatcher said. “So many of the crew and cast of Desperate Housewives have been encouraging me to do this for a long time, from Vanessa Williams to James Denton to the talented camera crew department and producers. Now that I have time, I’m excited to wholeheartedly conquer new ventures.”

In her first post-“Desperate Housewives” gig, Teri is set to play the absent mother of the lead character, Jane Quimby (Erica Dasher), a high school student who lands a job as executive assistant to creative director Gray Chandler Murray (Andie McDowell) at a big fashion house when she is mistaken for an adult.

“Jane by Design is charming, with very funny performances,” she added. “I look forward to working with new and old friends over there and helping them tell stories both in front and behind the camera.”
