Actress Alex Vega, best known for playing Carmen Cortez in the Spy Kids film series, and her husband, movie producer Sean Covel, have decided to separate after a little over a year of marriage.

“Alexa and Sean are no longer living together,” a source tells Life & Style. “They got married young, and things just weren’t working out between them. Alexa has moved back into her family’s home in Hollywood.”

The 23 year-old seems to be doing well and taking the opportunity to focus on her career and to spend more time with her family. Alexa and Sean tied the knot in a private ceremony on October 10, 2010.

Alexa recently tweeted, “In the end, it’s not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away.” Amen to that.
