Former View co-host Lisa Ling is expecting a baby girl with her husband of five years, Paul Song.

The 39-year-old TV journalist, who currently hosts a documentary series on OWN, announced the news on Anderson Cooper‘s show.

Ling has been open about the miscarriage she suffered in 2010. ”I felt more like a failure than I’d felt in a very long time,” she said on The View at the time.

“I don’t know that I took it as seriously as I should have because it happened so fast. But then when I heard the doctor say there was no heartbeat it was like bam, like a knife through the heart.”

In March 2009, Ling’s younger sister, journalist Laura Ling was detained in North Korea for trespassing and sentenced to 12 years of hard labor. She was released five months later when former President Bill Clinton made a surprise visit to the country to negotiate she and one other journalist, Euna Lee‘s release.

Laura gave birth to a baby girl one year later and named her Li Jefferson Clayton, after sister Lisa (“Li”) and Clinton, whose middle name is “Jefferson”.
