Looks like the Entourage movie is finally a go! Warner Brothers has given the project the green light. Bumpshack caught up with Entourage’s award winning actor Jeremy Piven (who played Ari Gold in the TV series) just as he returned from Austin, Texas where it is rumored he was shooting Sin City 2. He’s not allowed to speak about the Sin City role yet, but gave us the low down on a couple of his other recent projects.
Mr. Selfridge (Website) is a TV drama series set in 1909 London during a time period where women are enjoying an ever increasing amount of freedom. It tells the story of Harry Gordon Selfridge (Piven), the flamboyant founder of Selfridges department store. Jeremy spoke to us about drawing upon his background in theatre for the role (He and John Cusak are arguably the most famous alumnus of his family’s Piven Theatre Workshop near Chicago), as well what it was like working with such a strong female cast.
“Harry considers himself a showman and the store was his theatre. This role was really fun to play, his backstage life is rich and sometimes dark so the duality is feral ground for us. My entire cast is on fire, we overachieved in every role. There’s much buzz for the strong female cast in particular. I couldn’t be more proud of them!” he said.
Speaking of strong, talented women, Piven also executive-produced the female-driven comedy Fully Loaded (Website). The film chronicles the hilarious misadventures of two single moms who spend the night cruising LA and reflecting on their lives. Jeremy’s sister Shira Piven is Director; Paula Killen and Lisa Orkin starred in and co-wrote the film.
“Fully loaded has great women as well, my sister Shira did an amazing job directing her first feature film after years directing for stage. And Paula and Lisa are both very funny and talented. I had previously worked with Paula in Chicago and she has such an authentic and vital voice and it comes through in this movie.”
Mr. Selfridge is currently playing Sunday nights on ITV in the UK and is set to premiere in the US on Sunday, March 31 at 9pm on PBS’ Masterpiece.
Fully Loaded is now available everywhere On-Demand from Starz Digital Media.
