Conor Kennedy was arrested outside of the White House on Wednesday for protesting an oil pipeline.

Eighteen-year-old Kennedy, who dated Taylor Swift briefly in 2011, was joined by his father Robert F Kennedy Jr. and actress Daryl Hannah to protest the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which they insist would ”boost carbon pollution by triggering a boom of growth in the tar sands industry in Canada, and greatly increasing greenhouse gas emissions”.

Protestors handcuffed themselves to the White House gates in an “act of civil disobedience” before they were arrested and driven to a local police station.

They were released after paying a fine.
