Actress Rachel McAdams and actor Michael Sheen have split after two years together.

The couple, who met on the set of Midnight in Paris, were seemingly happy together, gushing about the other in interviews with magazines, etc. So what went wrong?

When they went public with their relationship, Sheen, 44, told People that McAdams is ”talented, intelligent, beautiful. She’s warm and friendly. She’s very supportive, and very kind, very funny. She makes me laugh a lot.”

And McAdams, 34, sang Sheen’s praises, too. She told Stella magazine in January 2012 that they spend as much time together as possible. ”Michael and I never spend more than three weeks apart … but you have to be quite adaptable in this business whether you are in a relationship or not.”

Sheen has a 14-year-old daughter with Kate Beckinsale. The two perviously dated for eight years. McAdams was linked to her The Notebook co-star Ryan Gosling for two years before breaking things off in 2007.
