Pop princess Britney Spears will be honored with a mega tribute to her absolute music video awesomeness during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 28). The troubled singer has offered us more than a decade of creative, flirty, mind-blowing, sexy, hot music videos and unforgettable performances.

Why a Britney tribute now? Is she ready to retire? Some might think she should, but no. Britney will hopefully continue to do awesome music videos in the future.

“Those video images are so ingrained on a very large chunk of pop culture and the population,” points out Billboard’s Keith Caulfield. “If this were the Grammys, or a lifetime achievement award, that would be different.

“If you ask anyone who grew up on MTV from 1998 forward, they would see Britney in the same way that Madonna was seen in the 1980s,” Caulfield continues. “Britney was the female video-making star of that decade.”

“A tribute doesn’t mean you’re retiring,” Producer Sean Garrett points out. “A tribute can mean, ‘Hey, you’ve done a lot for this culture.’ You don’t have to wait until someone is about to die or has been in the boondocks for 10 years.”

“She’s been through a lot and she’s come out stronger, and that definitely warrants a tribute.”

[WATCH VIDEOS BELOW] In 1999, Britney took over the VMA’s stage for the first time with a performance of her hit “Baby One More Time”. Brit killed it with “Oops I Did It Again” (2000) and “I’m a Slave 4 U” (2001). Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Britney joined forces for one of the most controversial performances in 2003. Unfortunately, in 2007, Brit crashed and burned with “Gimme More”.

Britney is expected to take over the VMA’s stage once again tonight. Will she join her own tribute and perform? We hope so. Can’t wait.

Former Danity Kane member, Aubrey O’Day, has earned herself a new reality show on the Oxygen network titled “The Aubrey O’Day Project.” The show will follow her attempt to make a comeback in the music industry. Let’s hope we’ll get to see the failure too!

A comeback might be a little difficult considering she was fired by P. Diddy. Just sayin’.

Amy Introcaso-Davis, the Senior VP of Original Programming and Development at Oxygen, had this to say about the show:

Singer Aubrey O’Day, who recently posed completely naked for Playboy (photos), continues to prove she feels comfortable in her own skin by exposing her body again for Maxim Magazine. The 25 year-old is currently taking a break from her controversial peep show at Planet Hollywood in Vegas. Here are some highlights from Aubrey’s Maxim interview:

On Shaving: “I’m fully groomed down there—clean-shaven. But I have a new appreciation of the ’70s girls–bushy and free.”

On Cologne: “Wearing too much cologne is never sexy. It screams insecurity and/or means he’s overcompensating for something.”

On Moisturizing: “Guys need to wear moisturizer with SPF. But not self-tanners. Those are for us.”

Aubrey O’Day is hurt! Former Danity Kane‘s feelings were hurt by some unretouched leaked photos of her Peep Show so she is canceling her performance tonight. Aubrey made a horrible video blog (watch video below), trying to explain she feels insecure about all the negative comments she got on her body and ends up taking her top off to show just exactly what her body looks like naturally (… except for a boob job and who knows… maybe liposuction too!!).

Aubrey wrote on her official website:

There were leaked shots of me that were taken illegally on my opening night of Peepshow. That night was one of the most empowering, emotional, and liberating moments of my life. I left the venue on such a high from performing only for that feeling to be taken away from me an hour later with a certain bloggers negativity. So, I decided to post this video message for you all.

Aubrey O’Day, who recently took her clothes off to pose for Playboy Magazine (photos here>>), celebrated her 25th birthday and the release of her March 2009 cover in a star-studded party. Amongst the special guests were Russell Simmons, Paris Hilton, Hugh Hefner and his new girlfriends (Crystal Harris and twins Karissa Shannon and Kristina Shannon).

Former Danity Kane, Aubrey O’Day finally breaks free of her clothes in the latest issue of Playboy Magazine (March 2009). I have to say that I’m completely disappointed with what I saw of the photo shoot. There is no real shocking nudity in the photos and the cover is just a big tease since I have seen Aubrey wearing much less on the red carpet (photos here>>).

Former “Danity Kane” Aubrey O’Day was always the loudest girl in the group, not for her amazing vocal skills but because of her uncanny skanky fashion sense and sexual orientation. This was something that pleased Hugh Hefner landing her a job as a bunny girl.

Aubrey will be featured in the upcoming March issue of the famous Playboy Magazine. She has already gotten naked for the photo shoot and she liked it! She even brought her family to cheer for her. How cute!

“The shoot was so liberating, it is very classy, simple and glamorous,” O’Day told Tarts at Kari Feinstein’s Sundance Style Lounge over the weekend. “It’s all about the girl and that’s what I wanted. It’s so glamorous, Hef was there and he loved it. My whole family came to watch, I have a very liberal and accepting family and there is very little judgment to have ever come out of my family.”

This is just a little too open minded for me! If I was getting naked for a men’s magazine I sure wouldn’t want my family to see me in those very exposing positions! Well, I guess they would actually see it sooner or later after the magazine hit the newsstands… it still seems kind of creepy having an old man (Hef) and family around!
