Britney Spears has been committed again on mental evaluation hold (5150 psychiatric hold) for the second time in less than a month.  TMZ has exhausting coverage of this latest Britney drama.  Early Thursday morning, Spears, was escorted via ambulance, and police motorcycle detail to the UCLA Medical Center.

Britney’s shrink called the cops and set everything in motion. The psychiatrist was shocked at the wreckless behavior shown by Spears the day before with the high speed chase she was involved in.  Cops referred to Spears as ‘the package’ in transporting her to the hospital.

Pseudo cousin Alli Sims was all smiles upon arriving at the hospital.  Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, was polite in asking the media to respect his privacy during this difficult time.  Her manager, Sam Lufti, the one who supposedly arranged the intervention, arrived at the hospital to check on his welfare check.  Her mom, Lynne Spears, and brother, Bryan Spears, have also arrived.

Brit went willingly to the hospital upon hearing the news from her shrink.  If Spears refuses medicine while under the 5150 hold then the psychiatrist is likely to go to court and ask a judge to hold her for an additional 14 days.

Lufti, not Brit’s parents, was making the medial decisions regarding Spears’ health initially.  She had her lawyers draw up papers last month blocking her parents from making medical decisions for her.  If she signs a Power of Attorney they can then make medical decisions for her.  Spears parents appear to have gained temporary control to make medical decisions for Spears, but this could change until a judge grants them that right legally.

Eight people were killed in an Omaha, Nebraska mall today by a gunman who has been identified as Robert Hawkins.  Hawkins is reportedly 19 years old and left a suicide note stating: “I’m going out in style.” and “I’m going to be famous.”

Sgt. Teresa Negron said the gunman killed eight people, then apparently killed himself. Authorities gave no motive for the attack and did not know whether he said anything during the rampage.

Friends described Hawkins as “depressed” and said he had quit school several years ago and worked at a series of fast food jobs. He was arrested last month on misdemeanor charges and was expected to appear in court this month.

Officials said Hawkins, clad in military-style clothing, entered the mall just before 2 p.m. Wednesday and began firing off rounds.

Why do selfish bastards feel the need to kill others before cowardly turning the gun and committing suicide?  Be a man and just kill yourself and pass on to your life in hell.

This has become a very scary trend since the Columbine killings back in 1999 where twelve students and a teacher were killed (23 others were wounded) in a Colorado high school.  The two boys responsible, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, killed themselves after their bloody act of terror before they could be arrested.

Just last April the Virginia Tech Massacre took place where Seung-Hui Cho opened fire killing 32 students and injuring dozens before killing himself.

Actor George Clooney was injured in a motorcycle accident in New Jersey today. Clooney suffered a broken rib.

George Clooney suffered a broken rib in New Jersey on Friday when a car collided with the motorcycle he was riding, the actor’s spokesman said. The 46-year-old actor was treated at Palisades Medical Center in Palisades, N.J. and released, spokesman Stan Rosenfield said in a statement.

The former E.R. star was rushed to the E.R. along with his girlfriend/passenger Sarah Larson. She suffered a broken foot in the crash.

Only Britney Spears…or perhaps Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan could enter rehab and leave in the same day. TV’s Extra reported that Spears entered rehab. TMZ later reported that she left within the same day.

Former personal assistant Felica Culotta had this to say about Britney:

“I cherish ALL the incredible opportunities that came my way thru my job with Britney and am crushed/saddened/heart sick by the way her life is unfolding…….”

“There’s just so much you can do to help a person,” Culotta wrote. “I cannot convince her in ANY way to love herself. … I cannot save her from herself, nor can I commit her to any type of treatment program against her wishes and will. I am throwing my hands up and realizing that I am helpless over another.”

PEOPLE reported that Brit-Brit checked into Eric Clapton’s Crossroads rehab facility in Antigua. Hopefully she will check back into rehab somewhere.

Fidel Castro signed over his dictatorship/power of Cuba to his brother Raul before undergoing surgery Monday night.

The Cuban leader said he had suffered gastrointestinal bleeding, apparently due to stress from recent public appearances in Argentina and Cuba, according to a letter read live on television by his secretary, Carlos Valenciaga.

“The operation obligates me to undertake several weeks of rest,” said the letter. Extreme stress “had provoked in me a sharp intestinal crisis with sustained bleeding that obligated me to undergo a complicated surgical procedure.”

Castro said he was temporarily relinquishing the presidency to his younger brother and successor Raul, the defense minister, but said the move was of “a provisional character.”

Cubans all across Miami and the U.S. started celebrating upon hearing the news. No one should party too hard because his brother Raul is more radical and crazy than Fidel is.

According to CNN:

Israel rounded up members of the Hamas-led Palestinian government Thursday, and warplanes fired a rocket into the Palestinian Authority’s Interior Ministry building in Gaza City.

The arrests of Palestinian Cabinet ministers and parliament members took place as the Israeli military continued its thrust into Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces says the action is part of an attempt to rescue kidnapped army Cpl. Gilad Shalit.

Early Thursday, a body found near the West Bank city of Ramallah was reported to be that of Eliyahu Yitzhak Asheri, 18, a settler seized by Palestinian militants hours after Shalit’s kidnapping Sunday, Israeli security sources said.
