Rocker Bret Michaels and his on-again-off-again fiance Kristi Gibson have called off their engagement for good.

The couple “have called off their engagement at this time,” Michaels’ rep said in a statement. “Although the couple have separated they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters, Raine Elizabeth and Jorja Bleu.”

Michaels proposed to Gibson on the finale of his VH1 reality show Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It in 2010.

Probably for the best, no? Eighteen years and you can’t walk down the aisle…..I’d say this is a good choice.

“Those video images are so ingrained on a very large chunk of pop culture and the population,” points out Billboard’s Keith Caulfield. “If this were the Grammys, or a lifetime achievement award, that would be different.

“If you ask anyone who grew up on MTV from 1998 forward, they would see Britney in the same way that Madonna was seen in the 1980s,” Caulfield continues. “Britney was the female video-making star of that decade.”

“A tribute doesn’t mean you’re retiring,” Producer Sean Garrett points out. “A tribute can mean, ‘Hey, you’ve done a lot for this culture.’ You don’t have to wait until someone is about to die or has been in the boondocks for 10 years.”

“She’s been through a lot and she’s come out stronger, and that definitely warrants a tribute.”

Brit killed it with “Oops I Did It Again” (2000) and “I’m a Slave 4 U” (2001). Madonna, Christina Aguilera and Britney joined forces for one of the most controversial performances in 2003. Unfortunately, in 2007, Brit crashed and burned with “Gimme More”.

Britney is expected to take over the VMA’s stage once again tonight. Will she join her own tribute and perform? We hope so. Can’t wait.

Bret Michaels has been busy with his recovery, but he has tried to stay busy with new projects. But sometimes the ball slips from the court and that is what happened to his most recent project. He was slated to have a Bret Michaels “Rock Your World” super fan cruise. He tweeted on Twitter that he was posting a message to his fans who bought tickets to the cruise.

His cruise for his fans to have the perfect fan experience. But his team seemed to pick the wrong guy for the job, and he bailed on them. Thus it made Bret bad on his gig and promise, which he had to work to correct. Only now has he made it a priority to talk about it.

To my family, friends, MEGI employees, other entertainers and most importantly you, the fans, who have purchased tickets to the upcoming Bret Michaels “Rock Your World” Super Cruise:

Ninety-five percent of the time, in the entertainment business, you deal with great promoters and agents. However, there is always a five percent chance of someone or something not being on the up and up, as was the case with our promoter in Syracuse, whom I filed suit against and fought to get people’s money refunded as best I could. In this case, the promoter, Willie Donwell, backed out of this event. He will not and cannot fulfill his contractual obligations. It has also come to my attention that Mr. Donwell has been involved in at least one other lawsuit of a similar nature in which he was sued by Prince. As a work for hire, I have always been and am ready still to perform as per my original contract. However, that option is not available as Mr. Donwell has attempted to release himself from his obligations and put his business dealings off on others. The goal was to give my fans the concert cruise experience of a lifetime and I have gone out of my way to do that. Even as late as yesterday I was on the radio with WMMR helping to promote this event.

As this is my first ever cruise, I want to reassure everyone that I have went out of my way to try and make this the best fan cruise on the high seas. Again, we are all victims of what I believe is a less-than-reputable promoter who apparently feels he can take advantage of both artists and fans. Know that I am working hard to right this wrong.

Bret Michaels Recovers From Heart Surgery

I guess with his recovery he was too busy than to check out the promoter. I just hope that he will be able to straighten it out and make a real cruise happen soon. I just think he should take his time seeking out the right person to get behind it.

Remember when Bret Michaels almost died of a brain hemorrhage last year? Remember when Bret got hit in the head with a gigantic piece of scenery during his performance at the Tony Awards in 2009? Are you putting things together yet?

Bret Michaels In Critical Condition After Brain Hemorrhage

Friday, Michaels filed a law-suit in L.A. County Superior Court against Tony Award Productions, CBS, and others for unspecified damages, claiming that the incident with the scenery caused his life-threatening condition.

In the complaint, Michaels says the producers of the show did not instruct him how to properly exit the stage, leading to him being “smacked” in the head by the scenery.

Following the show, the singer was treated for a cut lip and broken nose. The hemorrhage didn’t take place until six months later. The suit states:

“One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma — exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards.”

It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out….

You can’t take down rock and roll — and a hole in the heart can’t take Bret Michaels.

The 47-year-old singer was released from the hospital just two days following surgery to repair a hole in his heart, which was discovered last May after Bret had a small stroke. Now, he’s resting comfortably at home with his family and is doing just fine.

A source (friend of family) reports:

“Bret is recuperating at home with his family,”

“He is looking forward to enjoying time with Kristi and his daughters as well as getting back on the road.”

Better take it slow, old man!

Bret’s doctor at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix had nothing but positive things to say about Bret’s surgery and road to recovery.

Dr. Mansour Assar said that Michaels procedure:

“had excellent results”

and

“Because of the successful outcome and Bret’s determination, I believe he will be able to return to normal activity within weeks.”

Great news, especially since Bret just proposed to his sixteen year girlfriend, Kristi Gibson!

Poison star Bret Michaels’ tour buses were stopped by cops at around 11:30 pm in Indiana on Wednesday (July 21) and pot and other illegal drugs were found. K9s found the pot in the bus Bret was riding and Schedule II controlled substances (a group of illegal drugs, which includes, for example, cocaine, morphine, amphetamines and oxycodon) were found inside the other bus.

Bret’s rep released the following statement: “Two of Bret’s tour buses were pulled over late last night. Officers on the scene claimed there were no trailer tag lights. No arrests were made. Mr. Michaels allowed an open search of the buses and everything was handled in a professional manner.”
