Country legend Dolly Parton took time from promoting her new memoir Dream More, which hit shelves Tuesday, to clear up the rumor that she’s been having a lesbian affair with her best friend.

Despite being married to her husband, Carl Dean, for 46 years and being ever-so-vocal about their relationship, the 66-year-old has been romantically linked to her childhood friend, Judy Ogly.

Dolly Parton To Debut New Single “You & I”

During the interview, Parton compared her relationship with Ogly to Oprah Winfrey‘s relationship with her best friend, Gayle King, which has garnered unnecessary attention from the press, too.

“Like Gayle [King], her friend, Judy, my friend, they just think that you just can’t be that close to somebody,” Parton explained. “Judy and I have been best friends since we were like in the third and fourth grade . . . We still just have a great friendship and relationship and I love her as much as I love anybody in the whole world, but we’re not romantically involved.”

Leave my girl Dolly alone. Damn, she’s one of the only celebrities left standing that’s been married for as long as she has, and still manages to donate most of her time to charitable organizations.

Dolly Parton has announced that she will debut her new single “You & I” on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on May 26. The single will be the lead track on her 43rd studio album Better Day.

The release of the album will accompany her Better Day US tour. In a press release, Dolly said:

“I’m very excited, first of all, to be going back on tour at all. But I love the fans and I miss the live stage shows.”

“With the new stage show I hope to have a lot of new things for the fans, especially all the new songs from the Better Day CD and some new and different segments in the show with a lot more fun things as well.”

“Of course, we will always be doing the biggest and most popular songs. We’re looking for a good time for ourselves as well as for the fans.”

Dolly Parton is teaming up with Queen Latifah for her return to the big screen in Joyful Noise. The movie will be written and directed by Todd Graff, who has directed musical movies such as Camp(2003) and Bandstand(2009).

The film centers around two women who join forces to prevent a small town gospel choir from shutting down. Latifah, who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2002, will play the mother of two teenagers who is put in charge of the choir after the death of their director. Parton joins the film as the choir director’s widow who hopes to take over her late husband’s job.

“If you think I’m going to sit here and pass judgment on Miley, you’re wrong,” Dolly told Access Hollywood earlier this week when asked about Miley’s outfit from the event. “I think she’s beautiful. I love her. She’s trying to grow up, you know, I remember when I was horny and young.”

“When you were what?” Access asked. “Horny and young,” Dolly repeated. “I’m still horny!”

So, we can just leave that at that.”
