The Curse of ‘The Dark Knight’ Strikes Again

The Dark Knight has zoomed past the $400 million mark at the box office in the U.S. alone and likely will top $1 billion world wide. The movie has been successful on every possible level. It will continue to break box office records as fans of the movie keep going back to see the thrill ride over and over. However ‘The Curse of The Dark Knight’ has struck again.

The curse first struck back on January 22nd when ‘Joker’ Heath Ledger died from an overdose in his New York City apartment. Friends and family members said he sunk so deep into his role of the ‘Joker’ during filming and never came out of those dark places. Granted he already had a severe drug problem, but the strain of constantly being in character as the ‘Joker’ seemed to put him over the edge according to those that were close to the Aussie actor.

All seemed well on the Dark Crusader front as the film was released in late July and opened with a record $66.4 million dollar single day box office take. Then in London on the weekend of July 19-20 ‘Batman/Bruce Wayne’ actor Christian Bale was arrested for allegedly assaulting his sister and mom of all people. Then came more reports of Bale losing his cool and exploding at the director of cinematography on the Terminator 4: Salvation set. Then reports surfaced that Bale was depressed over the death of his friend and co-star Ledger, in turn causing him to be short and ill-fused with those around him.

Then yesterday the curse struck for the third time when beloved actor Morgan Freeman, who plays ‘Lucius Fox’ in The Dark Knight, was in a serious car wreck that left him in serious condition in a Memphis hospital. Freeman and his passenger in the car Demaris Myer are said to have been sober. Freeman suffered a broken arm, broken shoulder and other ailments but is expected to make a full recovery.  Days after the accident it was confirmed that Freeman and his wife of 24 years are divorcing.

Who will ‘The Curse of The Dark Knight‘ strike next? Maggie? Gary? Aaron? Is there really a Dark Knight curse or has the bad luck that has struck the cast just been a string of random coincidences?

Marriage Stress for Christian Bale and Sandra ‘Sibi’ Blazic

Heath Ledger and Christian Bale

More and more troubling news for actor Christian Bale in the wake of his arrest for assault of his mum and sister last weekend in London.  Last night we posted of how Bale lost his temper on the set of Terminator 4: Salvation when he screamed and cursed out a camera operator.  Now comes word that Bale’s marriage to former model Sandra ‘Sibi’ Blazic is on the rocks according to the Daily Mail.

The incident apparently comes at a time when his marriage to Sandra ‘Sibi’ Blazic, a former model and make-up artist, is enduring difficulties.

‘He has stresses in his marriage,’ the source said. ‘He can have a terrible temper. Instead of lashing out at his wife, he sometimes lashes out at people around him.’

The source added: ‘His marriage is not perfect, but his relationship with his mother is in much more trouble.

As the BumpWife mentioned to me yesterday sometimes these actors (who have tons of issues in the first place) have a hard time escaping or letting a role go once the filming and movie is over.  When you couple that with the fact Bale is having a hard time dealing with the loss of Heath Ledger then you can more understand what might be going on with Bale.

The source also claimed Bale had been deeply affected by the death of Ledger, who was found dead earlier this year from an overdose of anti-depressants and sleeping tablets.

‘Without Ledger around, he’s found it more and more difficult to communicate with those around him, especially his family.’

It was reported he found it hard to shake off the mental strains of the role, and told an interviewer he was having trouble sleeping.

It looks like rehab could be next for Christian.  Who will the curse of The Dark Knight claim next?

‘The Dark Knight’ Review by Nick Wolfwood

The Dark Knight
Review by Nick Wolfwood

What makes a lunatic? What drives a person to conceive of and execute heinous acts? What makes a hero? Why does he fight for good? What does it take to change a man in a monster? Why does any of it matter? These are some of the questions that are explored unlike ever before. The very essence of evil, and the nature of the good-hearted are pitted against each other in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) is Gotham City’s new district attorney. He wants to clean up the streets of Gotham and catch the evil that plagues it’s streets. And with the help of Batman (Christian Bale) and James Gordon (Gary Oldman) a ray of hope begins to shine on the dark city of Gotham. Until the Joker’s (Heath Ledger) insidious plans bring more chaos to the downtrodden city.

This film floored me. I am truly amazed at the brilliance of the script, the vibrant performances and the razor sharp direction. Christopher Nolan has crafted not only the most solid comic book movie ever, but also quite easily, the best movie I’ve seen this year. His work with each detail of every scene is superb and well crafted. Too many times in modern filmmaking CGI is thrust in front of us as a substitution.

Heath Ledger’s searing performance as the sardonic Joker was everything it has been hyped up to be and more. This isn’t you’re father’s Joker, he’s maniacal, frightening and everything you could hope for in an arch nemesis. Every nuance of his performance as this chaos driven monster just fits, he was brilliant. Seeing him perform at this level highlights the tragic loss the world has experienced in his passing……..

Heath Ledger Dazzling in ‘Dark Knight’

Heath Ledger as the Joker

The early reviews are in and the late Heath Ledger is dazzling a the Joker in the new Batman film ‘Dark Knight.’  Many are already stating that Ledger should be posthumously nominated for an Oscar.

Director Chris Nolan’s latest installment of Batman, shown to a packed IMAX house Saturday in LA, made good on many of the amped-up promises touted in its trailers: cooler new toys, groundbreaking cinematography, a darker tone and the genesis of a villain named Two-Face.

But Ledger’s green-haired fiend overshadowed all of them, from the first moment he appeared onscreen to a burst of applause and cheers from the audience.

It’s hard not to wince a little when Ledger’s character gets going on the topic of death, as he frequently does. It’s been only six months since the actor was found dead from an accidental overdose in his SoHo pad.

In this flick, Ledger showed us what a masterful actor he was – certainly deserving of a posthumous Oscar nomination.

I am sure Heath’s last movie will make many of his fans smile, laugh, cry and marvel at what a great talent he was in Hollywood.

John Gibson Makes Fun of Heath Ledger’s Death

John Gibson

Fox News host John Gibson mocked and made fun of actor Heath Ledger’s tragic death on his radio show on Wedensday.

Gibson called Ledger a “weirdo? who had a “serious drug problem.?

He then played a clip out of Ledger’s movie ‘Mountain’ where the actor says “I wish I knew how to quit you.?

Gibson mockingly said “Well, he found out how to quit you.?

Gibson played another clip from the film where Ledger said, “We’re dead? before repeating the quote himself.

Tragically we all know who Gibson is.  He kind of looks like the spawn of Satan himself.
