Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland Photos: Mia Wasikowska Is Alice

mia-wasikowska-alice-in-wonderland-photos

Walt Disney Pictures released the first official photos of the much anticipated movie “Alice In Wonderland” directed by the infamous Tim Burton. WOW! This is exactly what you expect from the director. He turned a traditional tale into something murky, dark and mysterious.

The 19 year-old Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska plays role of Alice. Producer Richard Zanuck says, “There is something real, honest and sincere about her. She’s not a typical Hollywood starlet.”

Johnny Depp, who works with Burton for the seventh time, plays the Mad Hatter, Burton’s wife Helena Bonham Carter is the Red Queen and beautiful Anne Hathaway is the White Queen.

Johnny Depp Uncensored Vanity Fair (July 2009)

johnny-depp-vanity-fair-cover-july-2009

Johnny Depp opens up about life in his private island and reveals a bit more about himself and what is important to him in the latest issue of Vanity Fair (July 2009).

The 45 year-old actor confesses he has different beaches named after his family (partner Vanessa Paradis and kids, Lily Rose and Jack), Marlon Brandon and Heath Ledger. Here are some highlights from Johnny Depp’s Vanity Fair interview:

On money not being the price for happiness: “Money doesn’t buy you happiness, but it buys you a big enough yacht to sail right up to it.”

On his favorite thing to do (he also likes playing guitar and reading): “What I love to do is paint people’s faces, y’know, their eyes. Because you want to find that emotion, see what’s going on behind their eyes.”

Johnny Depp Set to Star with SpongeBob Squarepants

SpongeBob Squarepants Inflatable and Phoenix

Johnny Depp most would agree has gotten sexier with age. He has also taken on more and more roles geared towards children because of his own children, Lily Rose and Jack, and thrived in those roles.  Now comes word that Depp will join SpongeBob Squarepants and voice a character on a future episode of the Nickelodeon cartoon.

The New York Daily News is reporting that heartthrob Depp, 45, will joining the cast of the Nickelodeon TV special titled Spongebob vs. The Big One.

No airdate has been announced yet, but Depp will be voicing the character of “Jack Kahuna Laguna,” a surfer dude.  Totally awesome!

SpongeBob is a sponge that lives on the bottom of the ocean in Bikini Bottom.  He works at the Krusty Krab and his best friend is Patrick Star, a starfish.

Phoenix is a major fan of SpongeBob. We had a large SpongeBob Squarepants yard inflatable for Christmas that we had to keep in the living room because Phoenix insisted.  It sounded like a helicopter was inside our house since it was built for outdoors.

Johnny Depp As The Mad Hatter In Alice In Wonderland – First Photos

Tim Burton’s favorite actor, Johnny Depp, stars in his new movie “Alice in Wonderland” as the sexiest creepiest Mad Hatter ever. Johnny can never look bad! I think he is gorgeous even if he is pale and scary… just as dark as Sweeney Todd and still too hot! Am I crazy?

Yes, I’m a huge fan of Johnny and his work. He gives himself to his roles and often gets lost between reality and fiction. According to BackseatCuddler, Johnny really ate his own hat for a scene. Crazy is sexy, right!?!

How many times did I mention Johnny is sexy in this one small post with a creepy Mad Hatter photo!?! I think it is pretty clear I have this huge crush on him… I wish he would take me to f**k off island!!

New Johnny Depp Movie ‘Sweeney Todd’ Opens Dec 21

Hollywood heartthrob Johnny Depp’s new movie Sweeney Todd opens December 21st across the country. The movie is the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Johnny Depp and Tim Burton join forces again in a big-screen adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical thriller “Sweeney Todd.” Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison who vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, Sweeney Todd becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who “shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again.” Joining Depp is Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney’s amorous accomplice, who creates diabolical meat pies. The cast also includes Alan Rickman, who portrays the evil Judge Turpin, who sends Sweeney to prison, Timothy Spall as the Judge’s wicked associate Beadle Bamford and Sacha Baron Cohen is a rival barber, the flamboyant Signor Adolfo Pirelli.

Matt Damon Named ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ by PEOPLE Magazine

Matt Damon People’s Sexiest Man Alive

PEOPLE magazine has named actor Matt Damon as its ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2007.  Others on the list included Ryan Reynolds, Patrick Dempsey, Brad Pitt, James McAvoy, Johnny Depp, Dave Annable, Will Smith, Javier Bardem, Shemar Moore, Ben Affleck, Adrian Grenier, Will Yun Lee and Justin Timberlake.

Most of those selected are well deserving but I am curious as to how Ben Affleck comes close to making this list.  Was it a package deal with buddy Matt Damon.  Did Matt say I am not accepting this honor unless you put my Boston homeboy Affleck on the list?

The ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ honor seems to just rotate among the same group of Clooney, Pitt, Damon and Depp.  Damon is good looking but the sexiest man alive?

Johnny Depp with ‘Rolling Stone’ Keith Richards

Photo: Rolling Stone- Johnny Depp and Keith Richards

Johnny Depp has often cited Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards as a basis in the creation of his Pirates of the Caribbean character Jack Sparrow. Keith stars as Sparrow’s dad in the third installment of the pirate movie machine. They are on the current cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

“You think, ‘Who’s the greatest rock ‘n’ roll star? Who’s that charismatic and interesting?’ And you go, ‘Oh … it’s Keith, isn’t it?’” he said.

Had Richards seen the first two Pirates movies?

“Oh … yeah,” he said. “How can you not with your grandkids around? I saw Pirates one when it came out. Pirates two I did fall asleep in, but I’d been up for three days.”

“I might have fallen asleep myself,” Depp replied.

Johnny Deep to Marry this Summer

Photo: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis

One of the world’s most famous bachelors, Johnny Depp, is reportedly going off the market this summer when he marries long time girlfriend Vanessa Paradis.

The couple’s seven-year-old was hospitalized in London for nine days in March suffering from E.coli food poisoning and her condition was touch and go.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star and Vanessa, 34, kept a vigil at their daughter’s bedside. Depp, 43, refused to return to the set of his latest film Sweeney Todd in London until she was out of danger, forcing filming to be stopped.

The source, who lives in the village, said: ‘Johnny and Vanessa have one of the strongest relationships in Hollywood but after their daughter was taken ill the family became an even closer-knit unit.

‘They have talked about marriage on and off for a long time but the recent emotional roller-coaster they have had to endure seems to have spurred them into action.

The couple, who have been together for eight years and have two children, are understood to be planning a discreet ceremony in the south of France where they live.

Congrats to the happy couple! Hopefully there is more validity to this story than mud in a pig pen.

Johnny Depp is certainly one cool cat, but can you imagine how freaking off-the-charts cool he would be if he didn’t live in France.

Best Movie Characters of All-Time

I complied this list of the 20 Greatest Movie Characters of All-time after consulting with more than a dozen Hollywood executives.  Some of these choices were easy while the others can easily be debated.  Who should be on this list? Who was left off? Which character(s) do not deserve to be on the list? Post your thoughts in the comments.

The Top 20 Movie Characters of All-Time

  1.  Photo: ET E.T.- The alien is number one.  E.T.- The Extra-Terrestrial started the mass merchandise tie-in trend that continues today.  The biggest surprise is that E.T. hasn’t phoned Hollywood for a sequel.
  2.

  3. Photo: Indiana Jones Indiana Jones-  Harrison Ford made this role the quinessential role for being an action hero.  Fans can expect to see another Indiana Jones film sometime in 2008.  Indy made the whip more popular than Betty Page ever thought about.
  4.

  5. Photo: Jack Sparrow Jack Sparrow- Johnny Depp has turned a slow boat ride at a theme park into a box office money making machine for Jerry Bruckheimer.  Sexually confused Captain Jack makes audiences laugh moreso for being dim-witted and clumsy than for his bravery, but he is always there to save the day in the end.  Look for the third installment of Pirates of the Caribbean to be released in May of 2007.
  6.

  7. Photo: Rocky Rocky- The Rocky movies have the best theme song of all-time.  Rocky is the ultimate underdog that we all find ourselves rooting for in a world that is stained with the likes of Terrell Owens, Barry Bonds, Pete Rose, and Mike Tyson.  There is a new Rocky movie in the works. Sylvester Stallone just turned 60 years old, but will star in Rocky VI which is due to be released in December 2006.
  8.

  9. Photo: Darth Vader Darth Vader- The Star Wars films would be only slightly better than average if they were void of the Man in Black.  Vader is not the voice you hear when calling 1-900-HOT-LOVE. His trademarked asthma challenged voice and complex history make Darth Vader one of the best villans and movie characters of all-time.
  10.

  11. Photo: Hannibal Lecter Hannibal Lecter- Human flesh has never been as tasty as Hannibal Lecter made it in Silence of the Lambs.  I know many people who are still scared just by looking at Anthony Hopkins.
  12.

  13. Photo: Han Solo Han Solo- Harrison Ford makes the list twice.  Every young kid wanted to be Han after seeing the first Star Wars movie in 1977. Many of George Lucas’ friends claim the character was based upon Francis Ford Coppola.
  14.

  15. Photo: James Bond James Bond- They will be making James Bond movies even after the rapture.  Sean Connery set the standard for all 007’s that would come after him. If Rogaine had been around back in the day he might have never lost the job.  Pierce Brosnan also did an admirable job as Bond.
  16.

  17. Photo: Forrest Gump Forrest Gump- Tom Hanks is the best actor of our generation and he is at his best in Forrest Gump. Hanks portrayal of Forrest Gump did nothing for the average Americans stereotype of our brothers and sisters from Alabama, but he sure made us laugh, cry, and hope that Jenny would finally realize how much he loved her.
  18.

  19. Photo: Wicked Witch Wicked Witch of the West- The original WWW.  The Wizard of Oz would be your normal gummy gum after school special if it were not for the Wicked Witch of the West. The only thing scarier than her in this movie is her A.D.D. possessed flying monkies.
  20.

  21. Photo: Scarlett O'Hara Scarlett O’Hara- Vivien Leigh is the most famous dame of cinema history.  Her beauty, strong-will, and love for Clark Gable is the key reason that Gone With the Wind is the box office champ of all-time (when adjusted for inflation).
  22.

  23. Photo: Shrek Shrek- Green hasn’t been this popular since right before Kermit went into rehab back in the early 90’s.  Shrek is a box office king and we should expect Shrek 3 to break even more records. Rumors continue to swirl of a Shrek-Princess Fiona sex tape circulating on the internet.
  24.

  25. Photo: Terminator Terminator- Arnold Schwarzenegger was The Terminator before he was the governator.  We knew each time a Terminator film did $250 million at the box office that Arnold would ‘be back’.  We will have to wait to see if Arnold will return to the screen after his political career.
  26.

  27. Photo: Mickey Mouse Mickey Mouse- The gloved one is the oldest movie character on our list. Mickey got his start in shorts back in 1928.  Mickey Mouse became famous in Steamboat Willie.  He made a comeback in 1940 in his greatest role as the Sorcerer’s apprentice in Fantasia.
  28.

  29. Photo: Dorothy Gale Dorothy Gale- Classic innocence is not the tradmark of Judy Garland’s life but it is the immortal image we have of her as Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz.
  30.

  31. Photo: Harry Potter Harry Potter- Some say that Harry is better on paper than film, but he is a hero to millions of illiterate children who have grown up watching the Harry Potter movies.
  32.

  33. Photo: Willie Wonka Willie Wonka- Gene Wilder gave a rememorable performance as Willie Wonka in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.  The movie was a box office flop but over the years it has become a cult classic.  Wonka’s chocolate obsession got him a movie and years later it got Kirstie Alley a TV show and endorsement deal with Jenny Craig.
  34.

  35. Photo: George Bailey George Bailey- We all realize It’s a Wonderful Life every Christmas when we see George Bailey realize that the world would be a much worse place if he had never been born.  I believe we all have a bit of George Bailey in us.  Jimmy Stewart always came across as a real life George Bailey. A normal guy that you always pull for no matter the odds.
  36.

  37. Photo: Andy Dufresne Andy Dufresne- The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best films of the last fifteen years.  Everytime I see Tim Robbins in a new movie I start looking for Red as well. I think most of us wish Robbins, as Andy, would have knocked off his real life wife Susan Sarandon in the opening scenes.
  38.

  39. Photo: Gollum Gollum- Our list concludes with the anti-E.T.  Gollum, from Lord of the Rings, lived to be 589 years old.  He was consumed with his quest for the Ring and the power it possessed.  The ring is lost forever but not before Gollum is reunited with it. He sounds a lot like Adrianne Curry and her pursuit of a ring from Christopher Knight.

Honorable Mentions: Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, Raymond Bobbitt from Rain Man, Vivian Ward from Pretty Woman, Pete Mitchell from Top Gun, Jack Dawson from Titanic, Mary Poppins from Mary Poppins, King Kong from King Kong, Jaws (the shark) from Jaws, Don Corleone from The Godfather, Tony Montana from Scarface, Austin Powers from the Austin Powers films, Roy Hobbs from The Natural, Rhett Butler from Gone With the Wind, Tyler Durden from Fight Club, Terry Malloy from On the Waterfront, Luke Skywalker from Star Wars, Michael Corleone from The Godfather, Jeff Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Nemo from Finding Nemo, Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird, Doc Brown from Back to the Future, Jason from Friday the 13th, Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street
