Katy Perry is in a hefty lawsuit with haircare brand for $2 million after the firm representing the company reportedly failed to pay the pop singer.

In 2011, Perry signed a $4.9 million contract with Jemella Group, ghd’s representation, to star in a series of advertisements for the brand.

The singer is now threatening to sue the company, claiming they owe her $2 million from an oral agreement they made to extend their two-year contract. Unfortunately for Perry, Jemella filed papers in an attempt to block her from taking legal action, and claims there was no agreement.

Perry’s rep made comment on the situation, saying, “Jemella’s attempt to embarrass Ms Perry by including defamatory statements about her in a public filing is shameful.”

The couple, who began casually dating last summer, have been spending a lot of time apart despite reports that Mayer spent the holidays with Perry’s family and even took his girl house hunting. So what gives?

Their reps declined to comment, but a source close to Perry told PEOPLE she’s been showing signs of unhappiness to friends. ”She gets really withdrawn when there’s a change in a relationship,” the source said, adding that during a recent conversation with the singer, “she didn’t mention [Mayer] at all.”

On March 15, Perry Tweeted a link to the song “Landfill,” which includes the lyrics:  ”I want you so much, but I hate your guts I hate you.”

Katy Perry has 451% Sales Increase After Film Release

Brand filed for divorce from Perry in December 2011, citing “irreconcilable differences.” They married in October 2010.

The couple reached a settlement in February, but weren’t officially single until July 16 because of the California law which requires couples to wait six months after filing to dissolve the marriage.

After watching Perry’s Part of Me movie, I can’t stand Brand. Go watch it. You’ll see what I mean.

Pop star Katy Perry saw a 451% sales surge in the U.S. following the opening of her new 3-D flick Part of Me.

The sales increase of her second studio album, Teenage Dream, pushed the collection up to number two on the Billboard 200 chart. Over 76,555 copies were sold over the past week, almost two years after the original release date.
