Kiefer Sutherland will spend his birthday (December 21st), Christmas, Kwanza, and New Year’s in jail all because he chose to drink and drive.  Sutherland surrendered to authorities to start serving his 48 day sentence that he agreed to in a plea agreement with the district attorney.  Sutherland has been busted twice for DUI in the last four years.

Kiefer Sutherland to do 48 Days in Jail

Kiefer Sutherland is going to jail.  Sutherland and his attorney, Blair Berk, have worked out an agreement where the 24 star will spend 48 days in jail for his latest DUI conviction and parole violation.

His attorney, Blair Berk, met with city prosecutors ahead of his scheduled arraignment next week. The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office is recommending to the judge that Sutherland be sentenced to 48 days in jail – 30 days for the DUI conviction, and an additional 18 days for violating his probation.

“I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox,” Sutherland said in a statement. “I appreciate the support and concern that has been extended to me these last weeks both personally and professionally.”

Sutherland should just plead that he was in character for the upcoming season of 24.  If the judge is a fan it might work.

Kiefer Sutherland Busted for Driving Drunk

Jack Bauer Action Figure

Jack Bauer Kiefer Sutherland is the latest Hollywood celebrity to be busted for driving drunk in Los Angeles. The 24 star was arrested and booked after his BAC was twice the legal limit of .08.

TMZ has learned that “24″ star Kiefer Sutherland was busted on suspicion of DUI in West Hollywood last night, after allegedly blowing more than twice the legal limit of .08. This is the actor’s second DUI in the past five years — he was arrested in 2004. By California law, if he’s convicted, he must serve a mandatory minimum of five days in jail.

The cops probably thought he was drunk when they asked him his name and he said Kiefer. They were probably like this guy is slurring his words in a big way. They probably thought he meant Keith and he couldn’t say it properly and then decided to arrest him.

Jack Bauer’s Best Buddy Possibly Returning from Death

Internet rumors are ablaze about the hit Fox TV show ‘24‘ that Jack Bauer’s (played by Keifer Sutherland) best buddy Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard), who died in season five thanks, could be exiting the grave and returning to season seven.

Oh, that’s it! Tony Almeida was the name of Jack Bauer’s right-hand man for five seasons on “24.” Almeida, played by Carlos Bernard, met his maker in season five — but Internet rumor suggests he could be back for season seven.

Not sure exactly how they will work him arising from the grave back into the script but they do this all the time on ‘All My Children’ and ‘General Hospital’.  I am sure they will say it was staged to send him into some sort of witness protection program or that he faked his death so he could turn on his good buddy Jack and hand him over to the Chinese.

Keifer Sutherland, who plays Jack Bauer on the hit TV show 24, won his first Emmy for his performance as special agent Jack Bauer at the 58th annual Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

Kiefer Sutherland won his first-ever Emmy – after nine nominations – for best actor in the drama 24. Clutching his statuette, Sutherland said the win meant he’d be having dinner with his father, actor Donald Sutherland, who was also in the Shrine Auditorium.

He called his six years on 24 – which also was named best dramatic series – “nothing short of exceptional.”
