Madonna’s ‘Hard Candy’ has debuted at #1 on Billboard Top 200 Albums chart knocking Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 down to the second spot.  Leona Lewis remained strong at #3.  A lot of new albums in the top 10 this week including releases from Lyfe Jennings, Def Leppard, The Roots, Portishead and Mudcrutch.

Madonna, whose new album ‘Hard Candy’ drops April 29th, is on the March cover of Vanity Fair’s ‘Green Issue’.

Madonna’s new album ‘Hard Candy’ will be available for purchase on April 29th.  The press release I was sent went on to say this about the Material Girl’s 11th studio album.

‘Hard Candy’ has been described as a brilliant up-tempo collection of 12 songs in which Madonna remains ensconced in club mode but this time adds an urban hip hop beat in collaboration with musical partners Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes and Nate “Danja” Hills. The debut single, the pulsating “4 Minutes” will be released at the end of March.

“The title is a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness…kind of like I’m gonna kick your ass but it’s going to make you feel good. And of course, I love candy” laughed the material girl.

Justin Timberlake, in introducing Madonna into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, said that he dropped his pants for the ‘Material Girl’ after she insisted upon giving him a B-12 shot in his buttocks.

He thought she was going to call a doctor for the injection, but instead, “She proceeds to pull a Ziploc bag of B-12 syringes out [of her purse] and says, ‘Drop ‘em.’

“I don’t know what you say to that, so I immediately dropped my pants. She gave me a shot in my a– and looks at me and says, ‘Nice top shelf.’ That was one of the greatest days of my life.”

Does anyone else think that Madonna has more than likely slept with both Justin and Britney Spears?  Did Madonna inject Roger Clemens with B-12 as well?

In our first match we had tournament favorite Britney Spears going up against her kissing buddy and music idol Madonna. While this game was a blowout I was a bit surprised at actually how well Madonna competed. Here is the final tally:

Today you will be voting to decide the crazier of the two between Lindsay Lohan v. Antonella Barba in our women’s match. In our men’s game it will be Rosie O’Donnell v. Michael Richards.

In what could be another lopsided affair, American Idol’s Antonella Barba will try to compete against underage drunk Lindsay Lohan. Both of their ‘crazy’ resumes have been well documented over the last couple of months. Lohan has been in and out of rehab…usually checking out to go to bars and clubs. Antonella has been seen ‘playing the flute’ with her ex-boyfriend and stripping in the World War II Memorial Fountains. She also compared her singing on Idol to Grammy and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson. Now it is your turn to vote. Lindsay or Antonella Barba?

In what will be one of the better first round games to date in the tournament we have comedians Rosie O’Donnell and Michael Richards vying to see who will advance. Most comedians have a very dark side that will come out as rage and hatred. Both Rosie and Michael have shown this to be very true. Richards, known for playing Kramer on Seinfeld, totally lost it at the Laugh Factory going off on two African-American’s who had come to see him perform. His ‘n-word’ laced tirade ruined what was left of his crumbling career. Rosie has gone off the deep end in the past year losing it with her View co-host Elizabeth, American Idol and her epic battle with Donald Trump. Is Rosie or Michael crazier? The NCAA men’s basketball tournament starts this week. But here at the Bumpshack we are having our own tourney version called Hollywood March Madness. In our tournament we will will pit Hollywood stars head-to-head to see who is Hollywood’s Maddest Celebrity. Sixteen Hollywood stars have been seeded. One half of the bracket is comprised of the women and the men fill out the bracket on the converse side. The #1 seeds are Britney Spears and Tom Cruise. The winners will be decided by your voting.

Today the #1 and #8 seeds will battle on each side of the bracket. That means you will be deciding the winners between Britney Spears and Madonna as well as between Tom Cruise and Donald Trump.

The first round and first matchup of the tournament will be between troubled pop star Britney Spears and her kissing buddy Madonna. Britney’s troubles have been well documented during the past month. Madonna has always been on the lunatic ledge, pushing limits to the max. Today you never know what will escape Madge’s lips. Can Madonna, the 8th seed, upset Bald Britney?

Number eight seed Donald Trump will play host to number one seed Tom Cruise at Trump Towers. Alien Tom put forth his best acting job ever by marrying Katie Holmes last year. His couch jumping and alien worship helped him earn the male #1 seed. The Donald has a continuing nasty feud with Rosie O’Donnell. That seemed to start after he gave Miss USA Tara Conner a second chance. You will decide if Trump will upset Tommy Boy.

Very few celebrities are born with a golden key to their chosen industry. There are some exceptions to that statement, but most celebrities got their starts like most of us ordinary people did or still are trying to do. Actress and pro adopter Angelina Jolie didnt mince her words when asked about Madonna and her adoption of David from Africa.

She said the singer should never have visited an impoverished African country with the sole intention of choosing an infant.  

‘Madonna knew the situation in Malawi, where he was born,’ said Miss Jolie, who has adopted two Third World youngsters of her own.

‘It’s a country where there is no real legal framework for adoption.

‘Personally, I prefer to stay on the right side of the law. I would never take a child away from a place where adoption is illegal.’

Miss Jolie, 31, also made clear she was shocked by Madonna’s decision to take David from the country where his father still lives.

Human rights groups in Malawi are still arguing that the American used her celebrity - and a £1.7million donation to the orphanage where David lived - to bypass laws governing the adoption of Malawians by foreigners.

I seem to side with Jolie and the human rights watchers on this issue.  It would be a great cat (tiger) fight between Madonna and Angelina.

No one has ever been able to tell Madonna what to do and that she possibly might be going about something the wrong way….this continues with current husband Guy Ritchie.  Madonna is already wanting to adopt yet another child from Africa, while Ritchie things the family should adjust to the one they just adopted first.

But John Ritchie said: “They’ve had a difficult time, (David) is beautiful and Guy is very good with him. But I don’t think he’d want to (adopt again).

Friends close to the couple have said Ritchie would only consider adopting another child once David had fully settled into their lives, but Madonna apparently does not share his cautious attitude.

A source said: “Madonna wants to get things moving. If she makes up her mind about something wild horses can’t stop her. But Guy wants them to get used to what they already have. It’s a big issue between them.”

Friends have said: “Madonna ignored most of the criticism levelled at them, but Guy is the first to say these people may have a point.

At least someone in that marriage has a bit of common sense in regard to relocating and adopting children.

Madonna is the winner of our ‘Worst Dressed’ contest once again. I know Madonna’s loyalists will write saying how she is such a style icon, but come on, she can’t decide here if she wants to dress sloppy or fancy. So she just dressed slancy.

Madonna is facing a certain backlash after her adoption of a Malawi boy.  Rules were broken for Madonna and husband Guy Richie to leave the country with the boy. The law of the land states that those wanting to adopt must foster the child for two years within the country.

Despite receiving the father’s blessing, aid workers have attacked Madonna and Richie’s adoption claiming that it undermines efforts to keep children within communities.

They argue that rather than whisking children off to a foreign land there should be more help directed towards helping extended families care for orphans.

Aids activists also claim that David, whose mother died shortly after giving birth, is bound to feel estranged and disorientated after moving from the poor village of Mchinji to America or Britain .

Babies have become Africa’s fastest-growing export. It has an estimated 43 million orphans, largely as a result of Aids.

Best of luck to the baby boy as he tries to adopt to another race and spoiled culture.

Wow I feel like I am on Spring Break in Panama City again. Madonna trying to remember the days of her youth here in the water on the beach in Miami.  Sadly I think she would have been laughed out of the bar in Panama City.

 

Madonna might end up with the highest grossing North American tour of any female performer this year, but American radio is simply not playing the first three singles from her new album.

“Hung Up” got middling airplay on mainstream top 40 outlets, “Sorry” was barely played, and “Get Together” has been all but ignored by pop stations. (Her album, “Confessions on a Dance Floor,” has sold a healthy 1.5 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.)

Has the pop queen lost her main stream appeal or is there a radio ban controversy?

Message boards at Entertainment Weekly and VH1, among others, are rife with everything from support for Madonna to conspiracy theories about why she can’t crack the radio dial.

But this time, Madonna may have turned left while the pop climate was turning right. Other pop chameleons such as Nelly Furtado and Mariah Carey reinvented themselves with recent rhythmic/hip-hop-leaning singles. Madonna opted instead to return to her dance-pop roots.

Here is a couple of reasons why top 40 radio might not be playing Madonna.

According to Dom Theodore, regional VP of programming for Clear Channel and program director of top 40 WKQI Detroit, today’s programmers consider each Madonna song on a case-by-case basis to determine if it fits mainstream top 40, adult top 40 or both. Or neither.

For Theodore, the sound of “Confessions on a Dance Floor” skews more retro-adult top 40 than mainstream top 40, while recent club tracks like Rihanna’s “SOS” have “more hip-hop credibility.” The Rihanna jam may reference an early-’80s dance hit (Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love”) but Theodore believes it does not have the same “retro ’70s feel” as the Madonna tracks.

However the new album has sold very well.

Madonna has had no such problems internationally. Since its release last November, “Confessions on a Dance Floor” has topped the charts in 29 countries and sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, according to Warner Bros.

Except for dance radio outlets like KNGY San Francisco, KNRJ Phoenix and KNHC Seattle, Madonna is missing from the terrestrial radio landscape in the United States.
