Madonna – the queen of shock and gimmick – has fallen face first into a spectacle of flop with news that her new album ‘MDNA‘ – a cheap allusion to ecstasy – has set a devastating record for album sales.

The first week of MDNA’s release the album sold 379,000 copies. The second week the album sold, wait for it…46,000 copies.

So why the dramatic drop? In a somewhat savvy move, Madonna packaged the album with ticket sales on Ticketmaster. Though Lionel Richie’s Tuskegee was outpacing her in projected sales, Madge was able to surpass his release by essentially giving her album away to anyone who bought a ticket to see her tour. These “sales” were then counted in Billboard’s tally.

So when tickets to Madge’s shows sold out the album quit selling.  It’s a cheap gimmick some artists, including Tom Petty, Bon Jovi, and Prince, have used before to help push their album sales to the top of the Billboard charts.

Cheap gimmick or not, Madonna will continue to wallow and roll in the dough.

Although a glimpse into the smoke and mirrors would make it appear that MDNA is more akin to WMD!

Madonna’s 15 year-old daughter Lourdes Leon was seen sporting an edgy new hairstyle with a half-shaved head while on her way to school in New York City a couple of days ago (see pic above).

No word if this radical new hairdo was approved by mama bear, but Lourdes has apparently wanted to do something different with her hair for a long time. The premature fashionista once revealed she wanted to have royal blue hair, which was something Madonna did not approve.

“I want royal blue hair but not a streak, like my entire head,” the teen designer wrote on her blog in December of 2010. “I read this blog aloud to my mother,” she continued, “and she is sitting here staring at me with no expression on her face, as if she doesn’t approve of it!”

Well for Madonna’s sake, the hair will eventually grow. However, I’m definitely not a fan of the half-shaved, fully-shaved hairstyle trend that seems to be celebrity kids’ latest obsession. Will Smith’s daughter Willow Smith has also gone wild with a shaved head (see picture here).

Finally. Madonna has spoken! In an interview for Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS FM show, the Queen of Pop confessed she was certainly not happy with her special guest M.I.A.‘s rude middle finger gesture during her Super Bowl performance last weekend (listen to audio below).

Madonna goes has far as calling it a teenager attitude and totally irrelevant to a performance she felt was suppose to pass on a positive message. M.I.A. is in the dog house with Madonna. I wouldn’t expect Madge to ever invite her for anything else in her pathetic career.

“I was really surprised…. I wasn’t happy about it,” Madonna told Seacrest. “I understand it’s kind of punk rock and everything, [but] to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy and positivity, it seemed negative.”

“It’s such a teenager… irrelevant thing to do in one respect, but on the other hand, there was such a feeling of love and unity there, what was the point? It was just out of place.”

Who’s M.I.A. anyway? Enough about that bird flip. Everybody seems to have forgotten that the Super Bowl halftime show was about Madonna, who admitted that was probably the most important performance of her career and she was very nervous.

Madonna admitted, “I was more nervous doing this show than any show I’ve ever done in my entire life, for sure. It wasn’t my turf… I’m walking into the holy grail of American sports. I know very well that everyone in the stands could go and leave and get hot dogs if they want to.”

In the Super Bowl-inspired music video, Nicki and M.I.A. are Madonna’s personal cheerleaders. After watching Lady GaGa push the envelope with wacky music videos for the past couple of years, this one is pretty lame and boring in comparison.

However I’m still amused about how Madonna still manages to rock those skimpy outfits while she keeps calling herself a different kind of girl. Anyhow, Madonna’s “M.D.N.A.” is set to be released on March 26, 2012.

After Madonna had promised there would be no wardrobe malfunctions, rapper M.I.A. decided to creat some buzz for herself as she flipped the bird to the camera when she joined the Queen Of Pop on stage for a performance of the new single “Give Me All Your Luvin’” during Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show on Sunday (February 5).

NBC, which was responsible for the broadcast of the event, released a statement to apologize for the rude gesture and explained that M.I.A. had not even attempted to pull that stunt during rehearsals.

“The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show,” NBC said in a statement. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”

“The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans,” said spokesperson Brian McCarthy.

Madonna might be extremely upset with her guest star’s attitude, but she has not made a statement about the incident yet. M.I.A. basically stole the show. Instead of talking about Madonna’s incredible stamina and lip-synched performance, we are discussing M.I.A.’s flip.

After Madonna won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for her movie W.E.,which she also directed, Elton John‘s husband David Furnish had a bone to pick.

Madonna Rips Ricky Gervais: “I Haven’t Kissed A Girl In a Few Years!”

Shortly after the singer’s name was called as the recipient, Furnish wrote on his Facebook page, ”Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!”

Madonna beat out John for his song “Hello Hello” from the film Gnomeo & Juliet, and gave an acceptance speech that was less than endearing.

His rant continued after Madonna finished her speech. ”Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism,” he wrote. “And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais tried to be funny by introducing Madonna as the queen of pop who is always vogue, a material girl and just like a virgin, but she challenged him to “do something about it” (see video below).

In a recent interview, Madonna, who co-wrote and directed upcoming film W.E., told reporters that she wants to make a film about royal newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Madonna Slams Lady GaGa’s ‘Born This Way’

“I think maybe it is too soon to make a film about William and Kate but I definitely would if I could wait a decade first,” she told the Sunday Mirror.

She went on to praise Kate even more. ”I like Kate Middleton and think she’s quite chic and intelligent. I hope she’s a fan of mine, too.”

Hey, how about you just concentrate on music! And you too, Justin Timberlake!

Madonna is dissing pop superstar Lady GaGa‘s song ‘Born This Way’ for it’s similarities to her 1989 hit ‘Express Yourself’ in the upcoming issue of Newsweek.

“I thought, this is a wonderful way to redo my song ["Express Yourself"],” she tells the magazine. “I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was… interesting.”

GaGa was asked about copying the famous hit in an interview in an April 2011 interview. Outraged, she responded: ”I’m a songwriter. I’ve written loads of music,” she fumed. “Why would I try to put out a song and think I’m getting one over on everybody?”

She continued: “What a completely ridiculous thing to even question me about… If you put the songs next to each other, side by side, the only similarities are the chord progression. It’s the same one that’s been in disco music for the last 50 years. Just because I’m the first f***ing artist in 25 years to think of putting it on Top 40 radio, it doesn‚t mean I’m a plagiarist, it means that I‚m f***ing smart. Sorry.”

Madonna and GaGa claim to be friends, complimenting each other’s work. But is it just for publicity?

P.S.- I don’t think GaGa copied anything. And quite frankly, her song is better. Suck it, Madonna.
