Actor Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend/mother of his two children, Brazilian model Camila Alves, have tied the knot in a very private ceremony held at their home in Austin, Texas on Saturday (June 9). Camila officially became Camila McConaughey.

After six years together, the couple, who got engaged on Christmas Day, finally exchanged vows in front of close friends, family members and their two kids, son Levi, who will turn four next month, and 2½ year-old daughter Vida.

The 42 year-old groom wore a black tuxedo by Dolce & Gabbana, while the bride wore a stunning wedding gown by her favorite Brazilian designer. “Matthew looked so handsome, like an Old Hollywood movie star,” says a guest. “And Camila was just glowing and beautiful!”

The ceremony was allegedly very traditional and emotional with the couple whispering their vows in each other’s ears. It was pretty romantic, but there were no groomsmen or bridesmaids.

“There were two preachers, [a pastor of a local church] and a monk. They switched off saying remarks.”

“They whispered them in each other’s ears. No one knew what they said,” the source reveals. “Whatever they said was very emotional. [Camila] was tearing up.”

“The crowd erupted and there were many tears all around.” And after a long, passionate kiss, “There was a lot of clapping and everyone was happy,” the eyewitness reveals.

Actor Matthew McConaughey finally popped the question to his longtime girlfriend Camila Alves on Christmas Day.

He announced the news via Twitter. “Just asked Camila to marry me, #MerryChristmas,” McConaughey said along with this pic of the happy couple kissing on his WhoSay account.

Back in March, the Lincoln Lawyer star, 42, told Esquire magazine that Alves, 29, was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.  ”I found the woman… I wanna make a family with, hopefully live our life out  together,” he said.

Alves, who hosts Bravo’s Sheer Genius, is the mother to McConaughey’s children; : a three-year-old son Levi and a daughter, Vida, 23 months.

Actor Matthew McConaughey has been best known the past five years for his beach workouts, runs with Lance Armstrong, and for settling down to have two children (Levi and Vida) with his girlfriend Camila Alves.

During that time, his movie career took a downturn with box office bombs such as Sahara and Fool’s Gold.

In McConaughey’s latest film, The Lincoln Lawyer, he needed to prove to moviegoers that he was a serious actor again.  Could he still pull of a Jake Brigance (A Time To Kill) like performance or had he turned forever into Dirk Pitt (Sahara).

The Lincoln Lawyer is about a L.A. defense attorney named Mick Haller, played by McConaughey, that does most of his client’s work from the back of his Lincoln Town Car that is driven by Earl (Laurence Mason).  It is implied that Haller lost his driver’s license and hence the reason that Earl drives him around.

The film centers around a trust fund kid Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe) who is charged with aggravated assault for beating, raping, and nearly killing a prostitute.  It seems like your normal CSI drama until the script takes a couple of left turns and jumps off of the Hollywood sign.

Haller quickly finds himself having been played by his new client as he tries to protect his family from harm finding them as well.  The storyline becomes a bit complicated when Haller finds out that his client, Roulet, is in fact guilty and also another prostitute several years ago.  A crime that one of Haller’s old clients had wrongfully been sent to San Quinten for, something that does a number on Haller once he realizes it.

There is a bit of a love story between Haller and his ex wife Margaret McPherson, played by Marissa Tomei, who is a prosecutor that quickly realizes just how deep Haller is behind the 8-ball with his client.

McConaughey, who is showing some wear and tear around the edges physically, shows in The Lincoln Lawyer that he can is still a box office draw.  Although he might fall short of Jake Brigance in his role of Mickey Haller, Matt proves he is back and should be taken seriously once again.

He seems more focused in the role of Haller than he has in any recent role.  He is still playing a fictional off-shoot of himself Haller who likes to drink, laugh, make jokes, and get his clients off in some highly unusual if not questionable ways.

Without ruining the suspense or ending of the film, I found that it was a bit rushed, cut and pasted together, and confusing.  The build up and action of the movie was superb for nearly 2 hours.  Then the conclusion and loose ends seem hurried and unnecessarily packed into the last five minutes of the film.

The film had great acting from McConaughey, Tomei, Phillippe, William H. Macy, Josh Lucas (who looked sub-standard next to McConaughey in the court room), and Bryan Cranston.

The movie is worth seeing and the plot is pretty unique. The movie is based on the book by the same name by Michael Connelly.

Actor Matthew McConaughey and his Brazilian girlfriend Camila Alves have welcomed a healthy baby girl named Vida Alves McConaughey, who weighed in at 7 lbs., 7 oz, at 12:13 am on Sunday (January 3, 2010). The couple already has a 17 month-old son named Levi Alves McConaughey together.

Camila and Matthew, who announced they were expecting baby number two via his official website back in June, 2009, decided they didn’t want to know the baby’s gender just as they did with Levi. If you are wondering, Vida means “life” in Portuguese so we wish the family a very long happy life! Congratulations!!

UPDATE: “Vida is Portuguese for “life” and that’s what God gave us this morning,” Matthew’s post read. “Camila’s recovering wonderfully, and we are both truly honored to welcome this little lady into our family.”

Country superstar Carrie Underwood apologized after Sunday night’s Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, after making an off-the-cuff sexual joke towards Matthew McConaughey, who had just presented her with the coveted ‘Entertainer of the Year’ award.

McConaughey told this gem of a story before presenting the award to a shocked Underwood:

The Texas-born actor presented Underwood with the big award, but before his official duties he entertained the audience with a story on how he and his brother once took a road trip thru Texas to see Dwight Yoakam perform. While there the brothers tried to “pick up” a few ladies by telling them that they made a livin’ exclusively custom-making George Strait’s boots.

“We’re like, ‘Oh yeah. Say, as I a matter of fact, out in the parking lot, in the trunk of our white Corvette, we have the next year’s new edition white ostrich quill George Strait signed series that he’s gonna wear on tour next year.’ And they got pretty excited about that and said, ‘Well, can we see? Can we see? Can we see?’” McConaughey told the audience. “And we obliged … Point of the story is, we got lucky that night. Thank you, George.”

Underwood, accepted the award, and caught up in the moment said, “I don’t know what to say. I got nothin’ … I want to see those boots, Matthew.”

The audience was a bit shocked, including McConaughey’s girlfriend Camila Alves, upon hearing the joke.  Underwood was very quick to apologize and embarrassed about the incident backstage.

“I’m so embarrassed, I totally embarrassed myself. I just blanked,” Underwood told Tarts backstage, burying her head in her hands. “You want to say something eloquent in a moment like that and I embarrassed myself. I’m sorry Matthew, I’m sorry to my family. I’m totally embarrassed.”

Oh, I say no harm, no foul!  Carrie was just playing along and being funny with Matthew’s story. No real need for Alves, the audience, or anybody to get upset about an innocent lil’ joke.

There is so much pressure on celebrities to be politically correct today that we are sucking the life out of their personalities and freedom of speech.

Free spirited actor Matthew McConaughey plans to plant the placenta from his son Levi’s birth in an orchard according to a recent interview.

“It’s going to be in the orchards and it’s going to bear some wonderful fruit,” he says, according to an interview transcript. “When I was in Australia, they had a placenta tree that was on the river … and all the placentas of all that tribe, all that clan, whatever aboriginal tribe that was, all the placentas went under that one tree and it was this huge behemoth of just health and strength.

“This tree was just growing taller and stronger above the rest of Mother Nature around it. It was gorgeous.”

Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves have let the rest of the world see their baby boy, Levi Alves, on the cover of the new issue of OK! magazine and the photo spread within the pages.

Matthew, on the cover is quoted as saying, “I want my son to be a little cooler than me.”

McConaughey tells OK! magazine that the experience was a lot bloodier and pukey than he imagined but a wild and beautiful thing.

“We ended up having an epidural because, on the large contractions, the umbilical cord was being compressed. They went in and tried the vacuum. This is where I learned — and no one tells you this — but having a baby is a bloody, pukey, sweaty, primeval thing! And I mean that as a beautiful thing. It is wild. But the vacuum didn’t work, and the doctor said, ‘C-section.’

The Texas-born actor says he cut the umbilical cord in “one snip” and got to hold his son for the first 15 minutes while doctors worked on Camila. Both he and the Brazilian beauty — who waited to know the sex of their baby — say they were not surprised to find out they had a boy.

The couple waited to find out the sex of their child and in typical McConaughey fashion Matthew explains the first moment he knew he was a boy.

“I said, ‘Come here, little man. I saw the pecker and screamed that we’d been right all along about him being a boy. Then I brought him over to her [Camila],’ Matthew said.

Matthew McConaughey took time away from his newborn baby Levi Alves McConaughey to explain to OK! Magazine how he and Camila Alves came up with the baby’s first name.  It is rather easy to figure out the origin of Levi’s middle name.

Explaining how they came up with the name for their baby boy, Matthew tells OK!, “Levi was another name for the apostle Matthew in The Bible. They were, in fact, two names for the same person.

“Our son was born at 6:22 pm, and this particular time represents my favorite verse in the book of Matthew in The Bible: ‘If thy eye be single, thy whole body will be full of light.’”

Baby Levi’s middle name is taken directly from his mother Camila’s last name. “We wanted to incorporate her family name,” explains the proud new father.

Where does Matthew’s sudden Christianity come from?  It is hard to say but in April of 2007 he was spotted on his stationary bike reading Lee Strobel’s The Case for Christ.

Another interesting tidbit is that Levi’s initials are L.A.M.  and in the New Testament one of the titles given to Jesus Christ was ‘Lamb of God.’

Super stud Matthew McConaughey has announced that he and girlfriend Camila Alves are expecting their first baby together.
