Life has been hard for Mel Gibson in the last year or so, something that can probably be attributed from troubles with his baby mommy Oksanna Grigorieva. The pair has been battling out the custody of their daughter since last year. Mel faced claims of abuse, while Oksanna faced claims of extortion. However, it appears that both have been cleared of those claims and have settled their case. Oksanna won’t get as much money as she wanted, but both do have rights to their daughter.

Sad news for crazy man Mel Gibson — he’s lost his role in the upcoming film ‘The Hangover 2‘.

Mel will be replaced by Liam Neeson, who, at this time, has not had any tapes released where he spews racial slurs and death threats.

Liam was invited to the role by his A-Team co-star, Bradley Cooper:

“I just got a call to do a one-day shoot on Hangover 2 as a tattooist in Thailand, and that’s all I know about it,”

“I just laughed my leg off when I saw The Hangover, I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV.”

Mel allegedly got the boot because it made the cast and crew uncomfortable. I wonder why?

Can’t wait to see Liam Neeson in his place when The Hangover 2 lands in theaters next May.

The cast was reportedly unhappy with Mel being in the film because of the recent controversy surrounding him and his domestic violence charges. The director of the film, Todd Phillips, said:

“I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team.  But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew.”

Smart move, Warner Brothers. Mel has made a complete and utter fool of himself this year and certainly doesn’t deserve to be a part of, what will more than like be, a hit movie.

‘The Hangover‘ was so wildly popular, it only makes sense that Warner Bros. would cash in their chips for ‘The Hangover 2‘.

And since Mel Gibson is so wildly unpopular, maybe a hit movie will help to redeem him with the public? Maybe?

Probably not.

But the deal has been done anyway — Mel Gibson will have a cameo in the Hangover sequel, due out May 26, 2011.

Of Gibson’s cameo, Moviefone says:

“He’ll be playing a Bangkok tattoo artist who (presumably) the boys encounter at some point during another wacky, dirty, foul-mouthed adventure through Thailand. The paper notes that part of their Thailand trip will be shot on the Warners lot before production moves to Thailand later this month.”

Interesting.

Speaking of “wacky, dirty, foul-mouthed,” I wonder if we’ll get some of Gibson’s signature racial slurs?

Can’t wait to check out The Hangover 2, even though I don’t think it will do anything to pull Mel out of the deep hole he’s dug.
