The Parents Television Council were outraged with the dropping of several f-bombs by 2 year-old Lily, who is actually played by a 4 year-old actress named Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, in the last episode of ABC’s “Modern Family” (watch video below).
“It is certainly in poor taste,” Melissa Henson of the Parents Television Council told Fox News before the episode aired. “Since television is constantly adding to the likelihood that children will be exposed to this kind of language, we will naturally see more and more children eventually emulate that behavior.”
Mitchell and Cameron’s daughter’s several f-bombs, including consecutive f-bombs at a church during a wedding, were totally bleeped-out as they were used as an opportunity to show how parents deal when their children start cursing.
Modern Family’s creator/executive producer Steven Levitan said, “We thought it was a very natural story since, as parents, we’ve all been through this. We are not a sexually charged show. It has a very warm tone, so people accept it more. I’m sure we’ll have some detractors.”
In reality, the young actress was only asked to say the word “fudge” during the taping, so it’s not like they were teaching her how to curse. Actually, Aubrey might have been given the chance to expand her vocabulary. Let’s face it, how many 4 year-olds can say and know the meaning of the word “fudge”?
Tell us what did you think? Bad taste or sort of educational? When I say educational, I actually mean they show you exactly how not to react in a situation like that. Do not ever laugh when you’re child says something she shouldn’t because that will encourage that behavior.
