‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ Gets Negative Movie Reviews

bella-swan-and-edward-cullen-new-moon-posters

The most anticipated movie of the year ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ is getting real negative reviews, especially directed towards the director Chris Weitz. The critics define the movie as dull, slow and overall gloomy romantic, which means it will appeal to Twi-hard but will probably not make new fans.

The choice for the director was questionable for a book has been defined as the worst for most fans of the saga but the expectations were so high that it was destined to disappoint the regular viewer who is not completely obsessed with Twilight. Here are some movie reviews:

“Director Chris Weitz proves that The Golden Compass was no fluke: He really is a non-master of action. His CGI werewolves, who look like they were designed by the animatronics crew at Disney’s Country Bear Jamboree, go at it in about three semi-OK bouts.”—Kyle Smith, New York Post

“The Twilight Saga: New Moon takes the tepid achievement of Twilight (2008), guts it, and leaves it for undead. You know you’re in trouble with a sequel when the word of mouth advises you to see the first movie twice instead. [...] Since they know it all and we know all, sitting through this experience is like driving a pickup in low gear though a sullen sea of Brylcreem.”—Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

“A smooth professional whose credits include such adaptations as The Golden Compass and About a Boy, Weitz makes the vampire trains of Melissa Rosenberg’s capable script run on time, but he almost seems too rational a director for this kind of project. This lack of animating madness combined with the novel’s demands give much of New Moon a marking time quality.”—Ken Turan, Los Angeles Times

“Firing Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke was a lousy idea, and so was getting Chris Weitz to take her place. I don’t know what tricks Hardwicke used to make Twilight play as well as it did, but I do know that Weitz isn’t nearly as good with this kind of material as she was. Twilight is to New Moon as Star Wars is to Return of the Jedi, or even The Phantom Menace. I mean, it really blows.”—Vulture hero Jeffrey Wells, Hollywood Elsewhere

“Though the battles between good and evil vampires and between vampires and wolves generate excitement, mostly Moon is a stilted, soapy supernatural romance. You’d have to be an already ardent Twilightfan – girls and moms, you know who you are – to get moony over this teen twaddle. – Leah Rozen, People

“The Twilight Saga’s second installment may satisfy hardcore fans of the series, but outsiders are likely to be turned off by its slow pace, relentlessly downcast tone, and excessive length.” - 29%, Rotten Tomatoes

Couples Retreat British Racist Movie Poster PHOTOS

The ‘Couples Retreat’ movie posters for the US and British audience have one striking difference that is causing a a heated debate on whether or not it can be considered racist since the black couple (Faizon Love and Kali Hawk) was completely cut out the UK version of the poster.

Universal apologized but explained they just wanted to ‘simplify’ the poster and make it more appealing to the British public, which is going to be really difficult because the movie is horrible! Not even Kristin Davis or Kristen Bell could have saved that movie!

Michael Jackson This Is It

Michael Jackson’s This Is It - (PG) A rare glimpse into the final days of Michael Jackson, the documentary is compiled from an estimated 80 hours of rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage of the legendary entertainer preparing for his 50 sold-out shows at London’s O2 Arena that were scheduled to commence in July 2009 before his untimely death in June at age 50. Interviews with collaborators and close friends of the late performer are also featured.

The Boondock Saints II - (R) When a priest is murdered in Boston, the MacManus brothers abandon their secluded life in Ireland to look into the case.

The Fall - (NR) Tony Jakubiak is careening through life as a hip, black sheep under-achiever. The polar opposite of his square, over-achieving D.A. older brother Frank, who is on his way to becoming the youngest Governor in history. Then, one night, Tony is arrested for the brutal murder of a priest. A murder he didn’t commit. Big brother Frank comes to his rescue, but Tony won’t reveal his alibi for where he was at the time of the murder. As the trial gets closer, and life imprisonment becomes a possibility, Frank discovers where Tony was and with whom. Frank now has the alibi and evidence to set his brother free. But when this revealing and tawdry evidence threatens to end Frank’s career and dredge up a very incriminating incident in their past, will Frank speak out? Or let Tony take the fall?

The House of the Devil - (R) Sam is a pretty college sophomore, so desperate to earn some cash for a deposit on an apartment that she accepts a babysitting job even after she finds out there is no baby. Mr. and Mrs. Ulman are the older couple who lure Sam out to their creeky Victorian mansion deep in the woods, just in time for a total lunar eclipse. Megan is Sam’s best friend, who gives her a ride out to the house, and reluctantly leaves her there despite suspecting that something is amiss. Victor at first seems like just a creepy guy lurking around the house, but quickly makes it clear that Sam will end this night in a bloody fight for her life.

How to Seduce Difficult Women - (R) Before the Game-before players, pimps, and pickup artists, where was the art of seduction truly born? A motley crew of clueless hopefuls get spoon fed the wit and wisdom that it takes to seduce difficult women, led by their womanizing French teacher, Philippe. Through Philippe’s seduction course and How-To-manual, he drops the skills to help this eclectic group of guys to find out how to capture the woman-or rather mate of their dreams. However throughout this school, we get to see if the master womanizer himself has the ability to keep his game tight or if he is the one that really needs schooling. Along the way we also get a taste of real-life NYC street interviews on romance, sex and seduction to see how it all stacks up in real life.

Fame Movie Poster

Fame - (PG) A reinvention of the original 1980 hit film, Fame follows a talented group of dancers, singers, actors, and artists over four years at the New York City High School of Performing Arts, a diverse, creative powerhouse where students from all walks of life are given a chance to live out their dreams and achieve real and lasting fame…the kind that comes only from talent, dedication, and hard work. In an incredibly competitive atmosphere, plagued by self-doubt, each student’s passion will be put to the test. In addition to their artistic goals, they have to deal with everything else that goes along with high school, a tumultuous time full of schoolwork, deep friendships, budding romance, and self-discovery. As each student strives for his or her moment in the spotlight, they’ll discover who among them has the innate talent and necessary discipline to succeed. With the love and support of their friends and fellow artists, they’ll find out who amongst them will achieve Fame.

Pandorum - (R) When two men emerge from a deep sleep in the middle of space, they discover that they have no memories of who they are and where they’re going. But their memory loss pales in comparison to the problem of the murderous warriors on board their ship who don’t want to leave anyone alive.

Surrogates - (PG-13) People are living their lives remotely from the safety of their own homes via robotic surrogates — sexy, physically perfect mechanical representations of themselves. It’s an ideal world where crime, pain, fear and consequences don’t exist. When the first murder in years jolts this utopia, FBI agent Greer discovers a vast conspiracy behind the surrogate phenomenon and must abandon his own surrogate.

The Blue Tooth Virgin - (R) Two writers must face a dilemma that is common to anyone who has ever had an artistic friend: What happens when you have to give feedback, and the news isn’t good? Sam, an aspiring screenwriter, and David, a successful magazine editor, have been pals for years. When David doesn’t appreciate Sam’s latest attempt, it opens a fissure in their friendship, one that spreads through the rest of their lives. Ultimately, both men must reevaluate their motivations to write, their need for praise and validation, and what it means to see yourself as you actually are.

The Boys Are Back - (PG-13) The true story of a man who must suddenly raise his two sons alone after the untimely passing of his second wife. The ill-prepared Joe, who is dealing with his own loss, is confronted with the daily challenges of parenthood while coping with his young son Artie’s expressions of grief. They soon are joined by Harry, Joe’s teenage son from his first marriage, who brings his own personal “baggage” into the mix. Without a roadmap for how to move forward, the three boys decide its best to leave the conventional rules and responsibilities of the grown-up world behind and lead a life based on the mantra ‘just say yes.’ When things go terribly awry, Joe is forced to step up and behave like a parent, but must figure out how to do so without completely abandoning the joy and exuberance shared in their more child-like world.
