MTV has confirmed the cancellation of their reality show Buckwild, following the death of 21-year-old cast member Shain Gandee.

Gandee was found dead in a car with two other men last week. The coroner found that the men died of accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.

“Given Shain’s tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him. Instead, we are working on a meaningful way to pay tribute to his memory on our air and privately,” an MTV representative told reporters.

The show had been picked up for a second season, but filming has reportedly been shut down by the network since the news of Gandee’s death became public.

Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson has been announced as this year’s host for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, making her the first woman to host the show since Sarah Silverman in 2007.

The comedienne, who was also seen in the hit film Bridesmaids, will emcee the awards, which are set to air in April.

Let’s not forget the awards show’s previous hosts, like Jessica Alba, Andy Samberg, Aziz Ansari, Jason Sudeikis, and Russell Brand. And did we mention Lindsay Lohan? Remember when the Lindz hosted in 2004? Fun times.

MTV is developing a TV series adaptation of the slasher/horror movie franchise “Scream” created by Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson, which stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

What? NO! MTV executive producers, Tony DiSanto (from The Hills, Teen Mom and Teen Wolf) and Liz Gately, are currently looking for a writer for the project. Are you excited or do you just want to scream!?! NOOOO.

MTV is going overboard with new scripted shows based on popular movies. The success of “Teen Wolf,” a film-to-series adaptation of the 1980’s movies with the same title starring Michael J. Fox, might have just encourage them to slay other movie classics.

MTV News correspondent SuChin Pak has just welcomed her first child, a healthy baby boy. The news was announced by fellow MTV host Sway during the red carpet pre-show at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (June 3).

“Also, we want to say congratulations to SuChin Pak who just had a baby boy,” Sway said while chatting with The Hunger Games stars Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Banks. “Congratulations!”

The 35 year-old, who joined MTV back in 2001 and is now an on-air correspondent for Daily Candy, announced she was pregnant on the show back in April 2012. Congratulations to the new mama!
