NFL Star Jevon Kearse’s Mug Shot

Jevon Kearse Busted for Driving Drunk - Mug Shot

Tennessee Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse was pulled over by Nashville cops on Sunday morning for driving drunk (DUI). Jevon was pulled over after swerving at a high rate of speed. He failed several field sobriety tests before refusing a breathalyzer. Kearse was then arrested and taken in to the slammer.

Famed Announcer Charlie Jones Dead at 77

Charlie Jones RIP

Famed sports announcer Charlie Jones has died at the age of 77 from a heart attack.  Jones was most famous for his work doing the play-by-play for the AFL and NFL.

Jones started his career at ABC in 1960 broadcasting American Football League games. In 1965, he moved on to NBC, continuing to broadcast the AFL and later the NFL.

The distinctive voice continued to work NFL games until 1997, when NBC lost their NFL broadcasting rights to CBS.

During Jones’ time at NBC, he also helped broadcast the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics as well as golf and Wimbledon.

Some of my earliest memories of the NFL were painted by Charlie Jones on lazy Sunday afternoons.

Chris Cooley Married Maxim Model Christy Oglevee

Chris Cooley and Smoking Hot Wife Christy Oglevee

In keeping with our theme this week of professional athletes and their beautiful women we bring you Redskins tight end Chris Cooley’s newly coined wife Christy Oglevee.

She was a cheerleader for the Redskins when she broke cheerleading rules and started dating Cooley.  She was subsequently fired for breaking team policy regarding fraternizing between players and cheerleaders.  Oglevee has since posed for Maxim magazine as a bikini model.

Cooley and Oglevee were married on May 23, 2008.

Chris played his college ball at Utah State.

Vince Young and the Sausage Factory

Vince Young Drunk and Naked Clubbing
Where the ladies at Vince?

Pictures of Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young surfaced last week of Young getting crunk drunk in a Texas bar with several of his best guy friends. Today VY issued an apology to his young fans in the Tennessean.

Young is not the first young quarterback this off season to be caught with his shirt off and bottle up. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart (see photos) was caught funneling beers to some of Scottsdale’s hottest 19-year-olds a few weeks ago.

Tony Romo Dumped Jess ‘Cause of Joe Simpson

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo dumped Jessica Simpson because her father, Joe Simpson, was getting all up in his business and telling him how to ruin run his career.

In addition, Romo’s friend said the talented QB has been put off by the intrusive style of Joe Simpson, who’s been ”not only telling Jessica every move to make, but now has begun to offer unsolicited advice to Tony on his career, endorsement opportunities and things that have nothing to do with him dating Jessica.”

Furthermore, Romo reportedly was very upset by Simpson’s interview in Glamour magazine where she referred to Romo as her ”future husband” and other on-the-record interviews she has given, saying she wants Romo to be the father to her children.

Jessica and Tony broke up last week according to friends of the couple. One rumor was that Tony couldn’t handle Jess not being over former flame John Mayer.

Antonio Pierce is Howard Stern’s New Intern

New York Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce is working as an intern on Howard Stern’s radio show.  Pierce is wanting to go into broadcasting after his career is over.

The Giants linebacker said he was serving as the show’s “intern” because he was interested in a role in broadcasting after his days in the NFL are done.

The Super Bowl champion was subjected to Stern hijinks, answering questions about his sex life and the NFL lifestyle.

Pierce believes teammate Michael Strahan is retiring.  Pierce’s woman, Jocelyn Maldonado Pierce, is the host of ‘Mets Weekly’.

NFL Star Marvin Harrison Investigated Over Shooting

Indianapolis Colts All-Pro wide receiver Marvin Harrison is being investigated about a shooting that took place outside of his bar Playmakers.  No charges have yet been filed against Harrison or anybody else.

The source said the alleged victim came into the bar, Playmakers, about 5 p.m. and engaged in an argument with Harrison, who was at the bar. The victim then left the bar, heading to his car, with Harrison following. Gunfire broke out, the victim was hit in the hand, and a young girl was slightly injured by flying glass from a car that apparently was hit by a bullet.

Police came to scene, but the victim did not identify a shooter. On Wednesday, according to the source, ballistic tests showed that the gun that had fired the shots was a custom-made Belgian weapon, and police determined that Harrison owned such a gun. A source told ESPN.com’s John Clayton that the gun is registered.

Marvin is one of the last people in the NFL I would suspect to be involved in something like this.  It is not looking too good for Harrison in the limited details that have surfaced so far.

President Bush Disses Jessica Simpson

President Bush while welcoming the New York Giants to the White House to congratulate them on their Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots cracked a pretty funny joke at the expense of Jessica Simpson.

“We are going to send Jessica Simpson to the Democratic National Convention,” Bush said as the Giants players laughed behind him.

Many blame the Dallas Cowboys and their post season collapse on quarterback Tony Romo who started dating Simpson during the middle of last season.  Romo had his worst game ever when Jessica came to see him play for the first time.

Dolphins Select Jake Long as #1 Pick in NFL Draft

#1 Pick Jake Long

The Miami Dolphins have signed offensive tackle Jake Long to a five year contract and will make him the #1 overall selection in Saturday’s NFL Draft. Long played his college ball at Michigan.

The contract is for five years and $57.75 million, with $30 million guaranteed.

The Dolphins were interested in trading the top pick, but no suitors surfaced — so they decided to sign Long and avoid a possible holdout.

At least Mel Kiper and crew can stop debating for hours on end about who the #1 pick in the NFL draft will be.

Congrats to Jake and all his friends and family!

Eli Manning Weds Abby McGrew

Eli Manning and Abby McGrew Wed at Palmilla

Super Bowl winning quarterback Eli Manning and Abby McGrew got married at the exclusive Palmilla resort down in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

About 60 loved ones flew to Mexico to join Manning and his bride for the intimate ceremony at the One&Only Palmilla, a swank resort along the Sea of Cortez on the Baja Peninsula.

Manning, 27, and McGrew, 24, exchanged vows while standing on a platform in the sand as waves crashed over rocks behind them.

The bride, carrying a bouquet of white roses, made her entrance through a wrough-iron gate and walked down the aisle to an altar covered in pink wildflowers.

McGrew looked splendid in a strapless white gown with gold embroidering and a large bow and short train in the back.

Way to go Mr. Manning and Abby for getting married at the Palmilla.  The One&Only Palmilla in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico is where the BumpWife and I got married back in 2005.

QB Steve McNair Retires from NFL

NFL quarterback Steve McNair has announced to his Baltimore Ravens teammates that he is retiring from the team and league after thirteen years as a pro.

McNair rose to fame with the Tennessee Titans and led them to their only Super Bowl appearance in 2000 coming just a yard short of winning the big game.  If he did he stays retired his final numbers will be 31,304 passing yards for 174 touchdowns.  He also rushed for 3,590 yards and 37 rushing touchdowns.

He is one of just three quarterbacks in the history of the league to throw for over 30,000 yards and run for over 3,000 yards.  The other two are Fran Tarkenton and Steve Young.

Legendary Quarterback Brett Favre Retires

Brett Favre

Brett Favre, one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history has retired after seventeen years with the Green Bay Packers. He made the announcement to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

“If I felt like coming back — and Deanna [his wife] and I talked about this — the only way for me to be successful would be to win a Super Bowl. To go to the Super Bowl and lose, would almost be worse than anything else. Anything less than a Super Bowl win would be unsuccessful,” Favre said in the message.

“I know it shouldn’t feel unsuccessful, but the only way to come back and make that be the right decision would be to come back and win a Super Bowl. And honestly, the odds of that, they’re tough. Those are big shoes for me to fill, and I guess it was a challenge I wasn’t up for. “

This is a big blow for the NFL and the Packers. Favre is the toughest player in NFL history and one of the last successful gunslingers.

Favre holds the all-time quarterback records for touchdowns, yards, quarterback wins and interceptions. The Packers only had one losing season in the sixteen seasons Favre was their quarterback.

He played in his last 275 consecutive starts as quarterback. A record that will likely never be broken.

His final numbers are 442 touchdowns, 61,655 passing yards and a record of 160-93. Favre won the MVP award three times.

The guy with the impossible task of replacing Favre will be Aaron Rodgers.

Longtime Steelers Announcer Myron Cope Dies

Legendary Pittsburgh Steelers announcer Myron Cope has died at the age of 79-years-old in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania.  Cope holds the record for the longest broadcasting career in the NFL.

Cope’s tenure from 1970-2004 as the color analyst on the Steelers’ radio network is the longest in NFL history for a broadcaster with a single team and led to his induction into the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2005.

“His memorable voice and unique broadcasting style became synonymous with Steelers football,” Steelers president Art Rooney II said Wednesday. “They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery and no Pittsburgh broadcaster was impersonated more than Myron.”

Steelers fans have lost one of their legends. Rest in Peace Myron!

Isaac Hilton Pissed Himself

Isaac Hilton Pissed On Himself

One of the most embarrassing stories involving an NFL player involves Isaac Hilton. Hilton currently plays in the Canadian Football League but is most famous for what happened to him at the NFL Combine four years ago in Indy. Hilton, who played his college football at Hampton, was drinking as much water as he could down before the weigh in. Players strut the stage in their spandex underwear for NFL scouts and GM’s to examine like fresh produce.

Well here is what happened to Hilton when he took the stage to be examined.

A combine official began taking Hilton’s measurements as several hundred coaches, scouts and front-office executives carefully examined his musculature. And then, to the shock and dismay of everyone in the building, Hilton had an extreme physiological reaction to a very unnatural situation.

“The poor kid pissed himself,” recalls one scout who witnessed it. “He was standing up there … and it all just came out. Craziest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Says another team’s personnel director: “All of a sudden people were running up there with towels and spraying the stage and wiping down the wood, and they led the guy away, and he just looked stunned. There was a delay while they cleaned things up, and we all just stood there saying, ‘Did we just see what we thought we saw?’ “

Luckily for Hilton he was still drafted and has played a bit in the NFL for a couple of teams. He has spent most of his career playing football in the CFL and Arena League.

I have a one-word solution for players participating in the combine this year: Depends!

The Caymanian supermodel calls Umenyiora, 26, her “boyfriend,” but explains, “It’s one day at time for us. I am very happy.”

She was previously engaged to actor Nick Cannon. Osi is a few notches up the stud ladder from Nickie.
