Grey’s Anatomy actor Patrick Dempsey put his doctor skills to use Tuesday night when a young driver crashed near his Malibu home.

The teenager lost control and flipped his Mustang multiple times. Shortly after, Dempsey ran to the car with a crowbar and was able to remove the boy.

Actor Patrick Dempsey revealed in a recent interview that he’ll be leaving the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy at the end season eight.

He told Italian Vogue:

“It’s gonna be my last. I do not know what’s going to happen to the other characters, but for me it’s done. [Leaving will be] bittersweet because it’s been a great part of my life. But I can’t see me doing it anymore.”

But not to worry, Grey’s fans; after the news broke, Dempsey’s publicist quickly rushed to the rescue, clearing up the quote:

“He was referring to the fact that his contract is up at the end of next season and we have no idea what the future holds.”

Dempsey’s co-star, Ellen Pompeo, who plays the title role of Meredith Grey, has said that after her contract ends in season eight, she won’t be returning. While McDreamy doesn’t have any immediate plans, there is another Grey family member on the show played by Chyler Leigh, who could potentially take over the story line.

Rejected Grey’s Anatomy Plotlines….But Give Them Time..

1. Having a ghost friend is a great idea. It worked for Ghost Whisperer, and Jennifer Love Hewitt is nowhere near as hot as Katherine Heigl. It only makes more sense that a hot ghost with a hot star = ratings galore. I think they missed out on an even bigger opportunity: Izzy is a ghost orgy with Denny and all the patients that ever died at Seattle Grace.

2. McDreamy is just perfect in every way: he’s sexy, he’s funny, and he’s the most talented surgeon ever to grace this planet. Too good to be true, right? Exactly. We never knew anything about Derek’s life before he came to Seattle Grace…until now. Turns out Derek used to be Dayna, a talented female surgeon in New York who was getting nowhere in her career thanks to the Glass Ceiling. Dayna was sick of being picked over in favor of male surgeons, so she decided to take matters into her own hands by performing gender reassignment surgery…on herself. Yes, she’s just that good. You didn’t think a man could have hair that good, did you?

3.  TV dramas love guest stars and Heidi Montag is a media whore – a match made in heaven. Speidi heads to Seattle for another posed photo shoot when Spencer decides that Heidi’s 92 pound frame is just too large. He can’t handle the ounce of fat on her thighs, so he convinces her to get lipo. While in recovery, the hospital is bombed and Heidi is responsible to perform life-saving surgury on all of the doctors at Seattle Grace. In a bikini. Which she then turns into a music video.

The splitting off of Addison onto her own show Private Practice seems to have likely been the wrong decision to make.  She brought a lot to the dynamic on ‘Grey’s’ between her, Derek and Meredith.

I think it’s fine to have your own pseudo-euro bicycling team uniform to sport on your smog-filled bike rides in Los Angeles but Patrick Dempsey’s selection of this candy cane themed uni, complete with black compression stockings, gruff and beer belly make McDreamy the ‘Worst Dressed Celeb of the Day’.

The Grey’s Anatomy star could have been saved by a good pair of blue scrubs as many fashion challenged medical people rely upon.

PEOPLE magazine has named actor Matt Damon as its ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ for 2007.  Others on the list included Ryan Reynolds, Patrick Dempsey, Brad Pitt, James McAvoy, Johnny Depp, Dave Annable, Will Smith, Javier Bardem, Shemar Moore, Ben Affleck, Adrian Grenier, Will Yun Lee and Justin Timberlake.

Most of those selected are well deserving but I am curious as to how Ben Affleck comes close to making this list.  Was it a package deal with buddy Matt Damon.  Did Matt say I am not accepting this honor unless you put my Boston homeboy Affleck on the list?

The ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ honor seems to just rotate among the same group of Clooney, Pitt, Damon and Depp.  Damon is good looking but the sexiest man alive?

Patrick Dempsey, who plays Dereck (Dr.McDreamy) Shepherd, on Grey’s Anatomy and his wife Jillian are the proud parents of baby twin boys. The twins were born on Thursday in Los Angeles.

The twins, named Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, were born in Los Angeles. They join 4-year-old sister Talula in the Dempsey household.

Asked how fatherhood has changed him, he told the magazine, “Now, making money is about providing for my children. And being a father makes you look at yourself. You look at your marriage and go, ‘How do I improve this? How do I keep growing and create a stable environment for my children?’ “

Greys Anatomy co-stars Patrick Dempsey and Isaiah Washington nearly came to blows during a heated argument on the set of the award winning TV series.

Dempsey, 40, and Washington, 43, didn’t need medical aid, but the actors, who both play renowned doctors on the show, nearly came to blows during a spat over shooting issues.

“We were like two baseball players . . . nose-to-nose,” Washington tells PEOPLE. “We had a difference of opinions while working on set but we’ve resolved it.”

At issue, says Washington, was “time and (keeping) the production going. The communication was lost in translation.”

Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey and his wife Jillian Fink are expecting their second child according to People magazine.

The couple have a 4-year-old daughter, Tallulah Fyfe.

Fink and Dempsey, 40, met in 1994 when he came into her salon for a haircut. They wed in 1999 at the actor’s family’s farmhouse in Maine.

Fink now has her own high-end cosmetics line. Dempsey was a teen star who made a comeback as Reese Witherspoon’s fiancé in the 2002 movie Sweet Home Alabama and as the heartthrob known as “Dr. McDreamy” on the hit ABC medical drama.

Actress Ellen Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey, on the hit TV show Grey’s Anatomy is turning everyone on the set against her with her diva behavior and belief that she is the star of the show.

According to insiders, Ellen — who portrays Dr. Meredith Grey on the smash ABC drama — has outraged fellow cast members and show producers with diva-like behavior and demands for more money and preferential treatment.

“Ellen’s become an insufferable jerk and her co-stars have really begun to resent her attitude and actions.”

“Just call her pompous Pompeo,” said a show insider. “She’s appointed herself the star of the series and has gone as far as to insist on separate interviews from the rest of the cast while on an overseas press junket.” Ellen’s arrogant attitude is getting on people’s nerves, according to the insider.

I was recently a part of a panel of Hollywood executives who debated Grey’s Anatomy. The biggest complaint from the panel was that Meredith was too whiney, bland, and predictible. Most on the panel implied that she was the weak link of the cast. If there is a true star of the show it would be McDreamy. Even George and Izzy are a whole lot more likeable than Meredith.

“Frankly, Patrick Dempsey is a much bigger star than Ellen ever will be. But even he doesn’t have the same kind of ridiculously inflated ego she has.”

Ellen is simply not a major Hollywood starlett no matter what she thinks or her advisors tell her.

Ellen also thinks her paycheck should be heftier than those of her cast mates, claims the source.

“I think she believes she should be getting the same kind of money that the Desperate Housewives stars make — in the $200,000-plus an episode range.”

Grey’s Anatomy could even survive without its character namesake.

“The show may be called Grey’s Anatomy, but that doesn’t mean the Grey character can’t be replaced. The show is a success because of the interplay of the large cast, not one actor in particular.”
