Patrick Swayze’s wife, Lisa Niemi, speaks up for the first time about her relationship with the late actor, who recently died from pancreatic cancer, in a special appearance to promote the book ‘The Time Of My Life’ on Good Morning America on Tuesday (November 3).

“I’m a lucky woman to have had him,” Niemi told “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts today. “We’ve had an incredible life together, and we got to really see that.”

“I’m hanging in there,” Niemi said, adding that she’s still “riding that wave” of grief. “When I’m good, I’m good … but I forget that two hours earlier I was dissolved on the floor.”

This book written by Lisa and Patrick celebrates the life of the actor. There is only one final chapter that addresses the trials and tribulations of Patrick’s battle against pancreatic cancer but it does not cover his death.

Lisa prefers to recall good memories of their life together like how it was like falling for Patrick, an amazing dancer with a Casanova reputation. “I was still intrigued by this mysterious, beautiful girl, but she acted as cool as ever to me,” Swayze wrote. “But then came the moment we first danced together on stage. And suddenly, everything changed.”

Who Was Eliminated On Dancing With The Stars Week 1??

Actor Patrick Swayze, who recently passed away after a long battle against pancreatic cancer, was honored on Dancing With The Stars season 9 premiere week with a dancing tribute made by the DWTS professional dancers.

The tribute started out with Chelsie Hightower and Dmitry Chaplin breezing through Swayze’s own “She’s Like the Wind” from “Dirty Dancing,” and then real-life husband and wife Jonathan Roberts and Anna Trebunskaya performed a romantic duet to “Unchained Melody” from “Ghost.” But the real clincher was the final “Dirty Dancing” routine, set to “Time of My Life,” with Cheryl Burke playing the part of Baby, and Tony Dovolani as Johnny Castle.

Actor Patrick Swayze, who died after a long battle with against pancreatic cancer on Monday (September 14), wanted his final resting place to be his ranch, Rancho de Dias Alegres (Ranch of Happy Days) in New Mexico.

“I fell in love with New Mexico when I was shooting Red Dawn,” he said about the ranch he shared with his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi. “It’s my healing place.”

The actor’s body is currently in Los Angeles, where it will be cremated and his ashes will be spread across the ranch as he wished. There is no official information about a memorial service but it is believed a ceremony will happen after the cremation on Friday (September 18).

Actress Jennifer Grey, who played Frances “Baby” Houseman in the 1987’s hit movie “Dirty Dancing”, remembers Patrick Swayze as a “real cowboy with a tender heart.” Patrick died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday (September 14).

Jennifer said, “When I think of him, I think of being in his arms when we were kids, dancing, practicing the lift in the freezing lake, having a blast doing this tiny little movie we thought no one would ever see.”

“Patrick was a rare and beautiful combination of raw masculinity and amazing grace,” she adds. “My heart goes out to his wife and childhood sweetheart, Lisa Niemi, to his mom, Patsy, and to the rest of their family.”

The 49 year-old actress, who clearly had a lot of respect for her co-star, also said Patrick was fearless and “it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified.”

Actor Patrick Swayze has passed away at the age of 57 with family at his side after a long battle against pancreatic cancer on Monday (September 14).

Patrick was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer back in January 2008 but kept working on his A&E TV series “The Beast”(photos below) until it had to be canceled because of the actor’s health decline.

UPDATE: Patrick Swayze Dead At 57

A rumor Patrick Swayze had died in the hospital this morning was quickly spread via Twitter after a radio station in Jacksonville, Florida revealed the tragic “news”. Patrick’s rep quickly released the following statement to debunk this cruel rumors.

“This is to confirm that Patrick Swayze did not pass away this morning contrary to severely reckless reports stemming from a radio station in Jacksonville, Florida,” says Annett Wolf. “Patrick Swayze is alive, well and is enjoying his life and he continues to respond to treatment.”

We are devastated to report actor Patrick Swayze, who is fighting pancreatic cancer for almost a year now, was hospitalized today for pneumonia and is currently under observation. This sad news was announced at a press conference for the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles.

“As we arrived here this morning we have some news,” said A&E president Abbe Raven. “Patrick Swayze has checked himself into the hospital. However, he asked us specifically to go forward with today’s panel. We wish him the very best with his recovery.”

In a recent interview with Barbara Walters, Patrick admitted his condition is very serious and knows he would be lucky to live two more years. Patrick is a fighter! We believe he can make it and we send our get well wishes and prayers out to him and his family.

Actor Patrick Swayze has been fighting stage 4 pancreatic cancer for a year now. So he finally sat down with Barbara Walters for an exclusive interview to tell all he has been through and his hopes for the future.

Patrick admits he was scared and angry when he was told about his diagnosis: “Yeah, I’m scared. Yeah, I’m angry. Yeah, I’m asking: ‘Why me?’” Despite all he has been through he still hasn’t lost hope for a cure. The cruel reality is that Patrick knows he might only have 2 more years to live.

Patrick says: “Five years is pretty wishful thinking. Two years seems likely if you’re going to believe statistics. I want to last until they find a cure, which means I’d better get a fire under it.”

He also confessed to Barbara Walters he will do anything to beat cancer from New Age crystals, pilgrimages to Red Indian healing grounds and remedies. We do hope Patrick can find what he is looking for… there is still hope!! Even if his chances are slim, there’s always the possibility of a miracle and he is holding on to that!
