It is nice to see that she is thanking them, but she should have waited until after birthday. I am sure she will be getting a whole lot more presents and wishes by the time Tuesday ends. Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul made a frantic and tearful emergency call to 911 because her “boyfriend” was allegedly not letting her get out of the car during a hot date in Santa Barbara at around 4:35 pm on Valentine’s Day (February 14).

In the 911 call, Paula is heard crying and sobbing while screaming, “Drop me off! I wanna go, and he won’t let me! You gonna drop me off ’cause I have emergency on the phone.” After a few moments, Paul says, “He’s dropping me off.” (Listen to 911 call HERE)

Police officers went to her home to make sure she was safe. Paula explained that it had been just a verbal argument and decided not to file a police report. In an official statement, her rep said, “Arguments with loved ones are often times heated. After the call was made everything was worked out.”

We wonder who is this mysterious boyfriend and what were they arguing about? However, we totally respect Paula and her privacy. Sure she doesn’t want to do her dirty laundry in the media.

Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul will star on a brand new primetime talent show called “Got To Dance” on CBS, according to Hollywood Reporter. Paula will basically do everything on the show from lead judge to executive producer, creative partner, mentor and coach. Phew!

Paula apparently rejected the offer of being a judge on Simon Cowell’s US version of “The X-Factor” to get her own dance competition series, which will include all types of dance. CBS is expected to announce the big news on Monday (May 24).

“Got To Dance” developed by ShineReveille will probably air midseason, which means it will possibly directly compete against “American Idol” and “The X-Factor”. And it will also become the third dancing competition series on TV, joining FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and ABC’s “Dancing With The Stars”. Let the best dance competition win!

Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul, who was initially reportedly set to join Simon Cowell on the American “The X-Factor”, seems to be finalizing a new deal with ABC to host/judge a revamped version of “Star Search”, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“Star Search” first debuted in 1983 with iconic host Ed McMahon and unveiled stars like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. ABC wants to launch the new “Star Search” this summer but it is not clear if they will allow Paula to participate as a judge on “The X-Factor”.

Paula did not deny or confirm the news. She simply tweeted, “Once again, until you hear it from me, you can’t believe what you read Lots of love! Paula” Soon! There will be news very, very soon!!

Former American Idol judge Paula Abdul has been offered a major $1 million development deal with ABC that would allow her to be part of Simon Cowell’s American version “The X- Factor” but only if she finally agrees to join the new “Dancing With The Stars” cast.

ABC has been trying to get Paula on DWTS for a few years and now that she is actually not on Idol is a great opportunity. Paula should definitely do it – she doesn’t have to prove anything anymore but she would quickly become the early favorite and most probably the winner of the new season, which starts in March.

Simon Cowell’s departure from American Idol has been announced a long time ago but it’s now official. Simon wants to bring “The X-Factor” to America and absolutely kill the competition. He is reportedly offering his former fellow AI judge Paula Abdul a staggering $4.5 million contract, which is still below the $10 million demand she made to stay on Idol.

A source told the National Enquirer, “Simon flew Paula to London and wined and dined her relentlessly over the course of several days, even introducing her to everyone who works on X Factor. But what really clinched the deal was Simon’s pledge that she wouldn’t have to deal with all the nonsense and infighting that she hated on Idol.”

Simon will reportedly leave “American Idol” this season in May to start working as a judge and executive producer on the US version of his “The X-Factor”, which is set to premiere in 2011. Can Idol survive without both Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell? We do not think so…
