Rachel Ray is showing her love for furry little creatures in a very big way.

The TV chef is getting really charitable this Christmas — she’ll be donating 100% of sales from her Nutrish and Just 6 pet food lines to shelter animals — with a goal of $775, 000 by Dec. 31st.

“If you want to look at the state of humans, you should look at the state of animals first,”

“People are choosing whether or not they can feed an animal and their family. And every shelter coast-to-coast is stuffed.”

Rachel will be hosting pet adoption events while she’s touring a new book — stopping at shelters of all sizes, the only exclusion being:

“We only give to no-kill shelters,”

“But we give to small and large; no one’s excluded. We want to keep as many animals alive as possible.”

Rachel started giving special attention to pets in need in 2008, and encourages those who can help to do so:

“My husband and I can sleep at night knowing that our small space is probably wrong for a lot of animals, but we can maybe inspire people [who have space] to bring a lot of animals home. It’s us trying to problem-solve that very discussion, ‘Why can’t we do more?’ “

She even went so far as to suggest things you can do to benefit animals — and your own kids — in the holiday season:

“When you’re out grocery shopping for your family, maybe you can put a can of cat or dog food in your cart and bring it to an animal relief center. Maybe you can take your kids by [a shelter] and have them donate something basic. If you can give one or two dollars, or even 10 dollars, to charity, it’s a great step.”

So, who has a soft heart for animals and a big stomach thanks to Rachel Ray? Who will be helping the furry little creatures this holiday season? Tis the season of giving, afterall!

Cooking TV hostess Rachael Ray is conflicted and twisted after her pet Pit Bull attacked another dog in New York’s Greenwich Village and bit and ripped its ear off.

“While she loves the dog, she can’t help worrying what would happen if Isaboo attacked a person,” Radar reported.

Ray’s husband, John Cusimano, called the owner of the other dog and offered to pay medical and other expenses. Ray knows that ‘Baby’ might possibly have to be euthanized.

Veteran Atlanta Braves announcer Skip Caray died on Sunday in his sleep at his Atlanta home.  He was 68-years old and the cause of death has not yet been determined.

Caray and Pete Van Wieren have been broadcasting Braves games since 1976. Caray’s sarcastic wit made him a popular lead voice of the broadcast team, and his fame grew nationally as TBS carried Braves games to a national audience for 30 years.

After decades of calling the Braves America’s Team, TBS this year began a seven-year contract of national weekly telecasts, leaving the Braves to the regional Peachtree TV network — and leaving Caray to radio work on home games.

Health problems also cut into Caray’s workload.

Caray said this year he was battling diabetes, congestive heart failure, an irregular heartbeat and reduced kidney and liver functions.

Skip’s dad was longtime St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox/Cubs announcer Harry Caray.  Skip’s son Chip Carey was a Cubs announcer before becoming part of the Braves TV broadcast in recent years.  Skip’s son Josh Carey announces games for the Braves single A team.

Braves nation has lost one of its finest.  I grew up a Cardinals fans but couldn’t avoid the Braves because they use to be on every single night on TBS.  So I caught more that my fair share of games announced by Skip and Pete Van Wieren.

Rachel Ray’s latest commercial for Dunkin’ Donuts has been canned after journalist Michelle Malkin discovered that Ray was wearing a keffiyeh in the advertisement. The Keffiyeh is very closely associate with Yasir Arafat and terrorism in Arabic countries.

Others known to be caught wearing the keffiyeh include Arafat, Hugo Chavez, Howard Dean, Ricky Martin, Colin Farrell, Megan McCain (John’s daughter), Kanye West, Kirsten Dunst and Sienna Miller to name a few.

This New York Times article details how anti-American fashion designers have mainstreamed the keffiyeh.  Singer Ricky Martin apologized after wearing a keffiyeh that had the words “Jerusalem Is Ours” embroidered on it in Arabic.

Probably an innocent mistake by Rachel Ray. Dunkin’ Donuts did the right thing by canning the commercial.  Terrorists would use the footage within their country to recruit claiming that even popular Americans like Ray are supporting their cause.
