Simon Cowell Will Leave American Idol

British judge Simon Cowell is rumored to be leaving ‘Americal Idol’ next year due to his ruthless work schedule. The 49 year-old also fronts the talent shows “Britain’s Got Talent” and “The X Factor” in the UK, and heads a record label and a television production firm.

Simon tells the Daily Mirror he has to make four transatlantic flights in a week just to keep up with his hectic filming, according to WENN.

Simon says, “I don’t want to come over as whiney because I am very grateful that I have got these jobs. But there is a point where I am not sure we can keep this schedule up.

“It takes longer and longer to make these shows because you have to put more into them, and I am not sure we can sustain me doing three shows a year, with the record label and the TV production company.

“Most people do one show a year and I do three and they involve a lot of travelling. One may have to go. I don’t know which one. That is the problem, I like all of them. I can’t imagine not doing Britain’s Got Talent and I can’t imagine not doing X Factor.

“But I guess America is more likely to go because I have got one year under contract. Maybe that will be the end.”

Simon’s ‘American Idol’ contract ends next year (2010) and he seems to be decided to leave the show. Can Americal Idol survive without the brutally honest judge? I don’t think it’s even worth seeing if he is not there… I think the producers will do everything to keep Simon on the show, but just in case he decides to drop they already have a new judge, Kara DioGuardi.

Simon Cowell and Longtime Girlfriend Terri Seymour Split

Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour Split

Simon Cowell and Terri Seymour, his girlfriend of six years, have split according to Cowell’s talking head.  The split took place back in September when Seymour decided to end it with the popular American Idol judge.

”Terri phoned Simon and finished it in September, about six weeks ago,” says Cowell’s rep, Max Clifford. “They are going to remain close friends. Simon thinks the world of Terri and that isn’t going to change. He also understands her reason for ending it.”

The couple were together for six years. Seymour, 34, first met Cowell, 48, when she was 18, but the couple didn’t begin dating until she interviewed him for a show in 2002.

“In the past Terri has said that she wants kids but that just isn’t Simon,” added Clifford. “Nobody else is involved, certainly not on Simon’s side.”

Simon is now on the prowl and it should get extremely interesting in Hollywood to see who he devours next.

All New J-Lo for ‘American Idol’ Ratings

I don’t think Jennifer Lopez is the one to blame but the ratings for last nights American Idol show were down a good bit compared with last season and earlier in this season as well.

Fifty-two million eyeballs (or, making the assumption most people have two eyes, 26 million people) tuned in last night to watch J.Lo coach the contestants, according to Marc Berman from The Programming Insider. That’s almost a million less than last week, four million less than the same week last season, and 11 million less than the January premiere. Ouch!

I think it is because the show gets a bit boring once you get to this point of the competition. Also, at least to me, there is not a really bona fide superstar that makes people want to tune in each week to see how they are doing.  The highlight of this season has been how bad Sanjaya Malakar and his hairstyles have been.  It will be interesting to see how much longer the show will be renewed. I think as soon as Simon Cowell says he is done or moving on to something else the show will collapse. They will try to replace him for the following season and the show will bomb to the point that they will cancel it altogether.

50 Things to Know About ‘American Idol’s’ Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell is the American Idol judge that everyone loves to hate. He is a bit of a mysterious creature being from Britain and all. One would have to assume his teeth are fake and his smokes are bad. Radar compiled a list of 50 Things You Need to Know About Simon Cowell. Excerpted below are some of the better ones.

Simon had his first kiss when he was nine and lost his virginity eight years later.

Since then, he’s slept with 100 or so women by his best guess. “I based my estimate on when I lost my virginity, figured that it was roughly 25 years ago and guessed that I had slept with an average of three to four women a year,” he explains.

Simon turned out to be a less reliable boyfriend than producer. According to Sinitta, he not only cheated on her three times, he made passes at her sister and her best friend and is “incapable of being faithful.”

Simon was once approached by a man who said he would pay six figures to have Cowell judge him and his wife in bed. He refused—which he says he regrets.

When in London, Cowell meets with his mother, Julie, a retired ballet dancer, for lunch twice a week. In 2005, he spent $500,000 on her surprise 80th birthday party.

Simon was suspended from boarding school for four months after being caught drinking—something he started doing at the age of nine, the same age he started smoking. He dropped out of school at 16.

Cowell now smokes Kools and says, like a proper control freak, “I’ve a golden rule, which is to drink only in the evening. I’m never drunk.” (I TOLD YOU SO!)

Cowell has produced 25 number one singles and has sold more than 60 million records.

He sports veneers. (I TOLD YOU SO!)

He owns no less than 30 black Armani T-shirts.

Despite his allegiance to the designer, he’s been abused in Britain for wearing extremely high-waisted trousers—and has taken to untucking his shirts as a result.

The one luxury item he’d take to the island? A mirror, “because I’d miss me.”

American Idol was turned down by every network before getting picked up by Fox—only because Elizabeth Murdoch told her father Rupert it was good.

Supposedly 5′9″, he sports shoes with a enormous heels.

If he could invite anyone, living or dead, to a dinner party, he would have Sinatra, Bill Clinton, and Natalie Wood.
