While Snoop (Lion?) was in Jamaica working on a three-part project (a reggae album, documentary and coffee table photo book) he underwent a “spiritual and artistic rebirth,” which prompted him to change his name.

Marley’s son, Rohan, reportedly gave his blessing at the news conference, which was held at Miss Lily’s, a Caribbean restaurant in New York.

But don’t worry. Because I know you were. Snoop is planning on turning his back on his rap roots completely.  ”I could never become Snoop Lion if I wasn’t Snoop Dogg first.”

Snoop Dogg was arrested for possession of marijuana after a border patrol ran a standard inspection of his tour bus in Sierra Blanca, a small town in West Texas, where ironically the rapper’s good friend Willie Nelson was arrested for weed in 2010.

Police dogs alerted for the possible presence of the drug in a waste basket in the back of the bus. Voilà. A red prescription bottle contained several joints within under a half-ounce of weed.

Snoop confessed the weed was his and it had been prescribed in SoCal. However, Texas has a zero bullsh*t policy when it comes to medicinal herbs. If convicted, Snoop might serve up to 180 days in jail.

Country star Willie Nelson, who recently chopped his legendary pigtails (photos here), and Snoop Dogg were caught smoking pot in a new picture posted by Snoop himself on his Twitter account with the simple caption, “Willie”. Willie and Snoop are BFFs! Seriously.

Rapper Snoop Dogg is such a big fan of the HBO vampire hit series “True Blood” that he decided to write a song for Sookie, played by bisexual actress Anna Paquin, titled “Oh Sookie” (watch music video below).

An anonymous tipper called the California Highway Patrol to report rapper Snoop “Doggy” Dogg has the dead body of his wife, Shante Taylor Broadus, hidden in his basement.

According to TMZ, the report was registered on CHP’s website but it was not taken seriously and they didn’t even bother to forward it to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. Let’s hope this is some kind of sick joke and Shante is alive and well! I still think someone should just check on her…

UPDATE: Snoop Dogg’s rep just released the following statement addressing this crazy rumors: “Of course, the CHP rumors are absolutely not true, totally ridiculous, and most of all hurtful to Snoop Dogg and his family. Snoop, Shante and their family are all alive and well – we appreciate the fans concerns for their safety. Anything said or reported on regarding the death of Shante Broadus is totally false.”

Rapper Snoop Dogg’s tour bus was pulled over near Dallas, Texas yesterday before a concert.  As you might imagine cops smelled marijuana and arrested two of the passengers on the Snoop-Mobile.

The two men who claimed the marijuana (nice pawns there Snoop) and were arrested were Kevin Barkey and Ethan Calhoun.

Snoop, who is on probation, was not charged with anything.  Snoop is on tour with rock band 311.

Jay-Z, the man with the beats, NBA team and Beyonce, also seems to have the most money among rappers.

The rap icon, aka Shawn Carter, is No. 1 on the site’s list of “Hip-Hop Cash Kings,” based solely on 2006 income. He banked an estimated $34 million, Forbes.com said Thursday.

Rapper Snoop Dogg has been arrested yet again. This time the troubled rapper was pulled over after his rap appearance on The Tonight Show in Burbank, California.

Detectives from the Burbank Police Department served a search warrant on Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, outside NBC studios in Burbank at approximately 7:30 p.m. this evening. Police say they found the rapper in possession of cocaine, a firearm and a large amount of marijuana. He was also cited for allegedly having a false compartment in his vehicle.

Law enforcement officials tell TMZ the search warrant was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation into the Dogg’s arrest earlier this month at the Burbank Airport, after he allegedly tried carrying a gun in a carry-on bag onto a plane.

Snoop must have one heck of a lawyer because he has not served any jail time since the early 90′s. 

The video that never was for Britney Spears song Outrageous included scenes of her seducing rapper Snoop Dogg on a basketball court.  Outrageous was to be the fourth single from In the Zone.  Britney injured her knee during filming and the video was never completed according to Wikipedia.

The single was supposed to be coupled with a music video directed by previous Spears collaborator Dave Meyers (“Lucky,” “Boys”); however, Spears sustained a knee injury during a dance routine and could not complete it. Clips of the video, which feature a cameo appearance by Snoop Dogg, can be found on her Greatest Hits: My Prerogative DVD.

Shot in Queens, New York, the supposed-to-be music video that was included in the DVD starts in the middle of the song where Snoop Dogg was seen playing basketball with a group of people. Suddenly, Britney interrups and ruins the game. She proceeds to flirt with Snoop and then licks his beard during the line “until I vow to keep it forever.” In the next scene, she and her dancers perform in a wet street, which is where she injured her knee.

I guess when Snoop wasn’t gangsta enough for Brit she decided to marry true gangsta Kevin Federline.
