Soccer Player Salvador Cabanas Shot In The Head (Photos)

Salvador Cabanas Shot In The Head Photos

Salvador Cabanas, a soccer player from Paraguay that plays for CF America in Mexico, was shot in the head in the restroom of a popular nightclub in Mexico City, the “Big Bar”, where he was with his wife on Sunday (January 24).

The 29 year-old is currently in a critical but stable condition after more than seven hours of emergency surgery, in which doctors weren’t able to remove the bullet. “We would do more damage if we tried to extract it,” Dr. Martinez told reporters at a news conference. “We cannot assure you that he is out of danger. He is young and healthy. That helps.”

An investigation is ongoing and two men have already been arrested in connection to the incident that was described as an attempted robbery, which was prevented when Salvador intervened. Our thought and prayers are with Salvador and his family.

ESPN 3D Will Launch This Year

ESPN Logo

The Avatar craze is catching on.  ESPN announced today that we can expect ESPN 3D in the middle of this year (2010).  The technology will first be tested on a host of World Cup soccer matches.

ESPN 3D will showcase a minimum of 85 live sporting events during its first year, beginning June 11 with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match, featuring South Africa vs. Mexico, ESPN and ABC Sports president George Bodenheimer announced.

Other events to be produced in 3-D include the 2011 BCS National Championship Game, college basketball and football contests, up to 25 World Cup matches and the Summer X Games. Additional events will be announced at a later date.

Will fans be willing to don spectacles to watch their favorite sports at home?  Will we be able to watch 3D as some point without 3D glasses?  We live in a time when it is much more enjoyable and cheaper to watch sporting events from our living rooms as opposed to at a stadium or arena.

Thierry Henry’s Handball Goal VIDEO

Thierry Henry Handball Video Photos

French soccer player Thierry Henry saved his country from complete disgrace when he scored a handball goal during the playoff game against Ireland on Wednesday (November 18), which qualified his country for the World Cup. The Swedish referee failed to see something as obvious as that hand on the ball and France avoided going to penalty-kicks, winning the game for 2-1.

Later, Thierry confessed it was a handball: “I will be honest, it was a handball. But I’m not the ref. I played it, the ref allowed it. That’s a question you should ask him.” Thierry joins Maradona in the restrict group of soccer players who can get away with anything. We demand a rematch, which, of course, is not going to happen.

Elizabeth Lambert VIDEO: New Mexico Women’s Soccer Game

The soccer game of the New Mexico Lobos against BYU Cougars for the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament took a nasty turn when Mexico’s #15 Elizabeth Lambert showed her true colors on the field.

After a ponytail take down on BYU’s Kassidy Shumway, Lambert followed that up by tripping a BYU player at the edge of the box, resulting in one of her New Mexico teammates “accidentally” kicking the ball right in her face.

This woman should be kicked out of sports for good or maybe start a new career in boxing! And where was the referee when all this happened? Is he completely blind? Where’s fair play? It was absolutely unbelievable. In the end BYU won the game (1-0) and will play the finals.
