Eccentric Lady GaGa makes her cartoon debut in the very special The Simpsons season finale episode entitled “Lisa Goes GaGa” to air on Sunday, May 20 at 8 pm ET on FOX (watch video sneak peeks below).

GaGa said, “I’ve always been a huge fan of The Simpsons. I was really excited and surprised and have been itching to do some TV again. It was such an incredible script. It’s so funny.”

It’s the beginning of the end for “The Simpsons”! After 23 seasons, FOX’s hit show will most likely be canceled since the salary negotiations with the six core actors who voice the iconic Simpson characters have reached an impasse.

“Twenty-three seasons in, The Simpsons is as creatively vibrant as ever and beloved by millions around the world,” a rep for 20th Century Fox said in a statement to E! News.

“We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model. We are hopeful that we can reach an agreement with the voice cast that allows The Simpsons to go on entertaining audiences with original episodes for many years to come.”

The executive producers of the show want to continue, but expenses have to be cut, starting with a 45% cut on talent salaries. The main cast, Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Yeardley Smith, Nancy Cartwright, Harry Shearer and Hank Azaria, who reportedly earn $8 million a year, have been looking to get even more money, which include a cut from the proceeds of the show’s merchandise.

On the other hand, the creator Matt Groening and James L. Brooks, who are responsible for the huge success of the Emmy-winning sitcom and longest-running scripted show of all-time, already have very lucrative deals, including syndication deals.

America’s favorite former con/home decor queen Martha Stewart is joining The Simpsons on December 5th for a special holiday episode.

The Simpsons executive producer Al Jean says that Stewart appears as a cartoon version of herself spreading holiday cheer in Marge’s dreams:

“Marge is upset that the rest of the family has no Christmas spirit, so Martha comes in and, with military efficiency, completely changes things around. She tapes up Bart’s and Millhouse’s mouths, sticks ping-pong paddles on their backs, and makes them into wooden soldiers. She spray-paints stars on the window using Maggie as a stencil.”

And where does Homer come in to the picture?:

“He’s just sleeping on the couch with a copy of Modern Fart Denier magazine on his stomach, so she puts a cute Christmas display with a little train over him. He starts to wake up, so she just chloroforms him and gives Marge the recipe for the chloroform, and Marge goes, ‘That’s a keeper!’”

The special December 5th episode also features Katy Perry in a live-action segment with singing puppets. Jean said Stewart has had “a terrific sense of humor about herself” while recording her part, adding:

“She’s the fifth-richest person we’ve had on The Simpsons and the sixth-funniest.”

“The Simpsons” season finale will count with special appearances by the American Idol judges, Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Ellen DeGeneres and Randy Jackson, and host Ryan Seacrest. Moe, the Bartender will join them at the judges’ table in the episode, “Judge Me Tender” which will air on May 23, 2010.
