Elin Woods Expecting Tiger’s Second Cub

Elin Woods Expecting Second Child

Tiger and Elin Nordegren Woods are expecting their second child together.  Tiger made the announcement on his website earlier today that Elin is pregnant.  Elin is due sometime late this winter according to Access Hollywood.

Woods said on his Web site that Elin is expecting in late winter without being more specific on a due date.

He has not played since his U.S. Open victory in June, and two weeks later had reconstructive surgery on his left knee that put him out for the year. Woods’ first child, daughter Sam, was born the Monday after the 2007 U.S. Open.

“Elin is feeling great and we are both thrilled,” Woods said. “While my injury has been disappointing and frustrating, it has allowed me to spend a lot of time watching Sam grow. I can’t begin to tell you how rewarding it is being a dad and spending time with her and Elin.

“The injury has been a blessing and a disappointment.”

Their first child, Samantha, celebrated her first birthday earlier this year.

Live Blogging: 2008 U.S. Open Playoff Round Coverage

Tiger Woods hit a dramatic putt on the 18th hole yesterday at Torrey Pines to set up today’s playoff round of 18 holes between Woods and Rocco Mediate, the 158th ranked golfer in the world. I know many are at work and away from a TV this morning so I am going to do my best job to live blog the round hole-by-hole right here.

The round starts at 12:00pm EST/9:00am PST (tee time) on ESPN then moves to NBC after the first two hours.

Tiger Woods Has Knee Surgery

Golfer Tiger Woods had surgery on his left knee today to repair cartilage damage.  It is the third surgery on Tiger’s left knee.  Even with the bum knee Tiger still finished second at the Master’s tournament last weekend.

“I made the decision to deal with the pain and schedule the surgery for after the Masters,” Woods said. “The upside is that I have been through this process before and know how to handle it. I look forward to working through the rehabilitation process and getting back to action as quickly as I can.”

Tiger likely will miss 4-6 weeks and miss the The Players Championship.  Woods should however be back in time for the U.S. Open.

Golfweek Editor Dave Seanor Fired for ‘Noose’ Cover

Golfweek

Golfweek magazine has fired editor Dave Seanor after his decision to run a cover photo of a ‘noose’ in wake of Kelly Tilghman’s ‘lynch’ remarks regarding Tiger Woods.

“Clearly, what Kelly said was inappropriate and unfortunate, and she obviously regrets her choice of words,” Finchem said in a statement. “But we consider Golfweek’s imagery of a swinging noose on its cover to be outrageous and irresponsible. It smacks of tabloid journalism. It was a naked attempt to inflame and keep alive an incident that was heading to an appropriate conclusion.”

Seanor will be replaced by Jeff Babineau as editor.

Tilgman was suspended for two weeks from The Golf Channel for the original remark that started the firestorm.

Kelly Tilghman’s ‘Lynch’ Remarks Create Firestorm

Kelly TilghmanKelly Tilghman is in an Olympic size pool of hot water after her comments about young golfers needing to lynch Tiger Woods.  Kelly is the anchor for the Golf  Channel.  She has apologized for the comments and to Wood’s rep.

Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman has made a round of apologies after saying that young golf players should “lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley” as a way to compete with the most dominant player in the sport’s history, ESPN reported Tuesday.

Tilghman made the remarks during Friday’s telecast of the PGA Tour’s opening event at the Mercedes-Benz Championship.

Tilghman does play-by-play for the PGA Tour on the Golf Channel.  She is the first woman to do so.  She played golf for Duke in college.

Even with the apology, I think it will be hard for Kelly to keep her job.

Tiger Woods Becomes A Father

Photo: Tiger and Elin Woods

Golf great Tiger Woods became a first time father on Monday after his wife Elin gave birth to a baby daughter.  Her name is Sam Alexis.

“Both Elin and Sam are doing well and resting peacefully,” Woods wrote. “We want to thank our doctors and the hospital staff for all their dedicated and hard work. This is truly a special time in our lives and we look forward to introducing Sam to our family and friends over the next few weeks. We thank everyone for their well wishes and continued respect of our privacy.”

Woods said he would miss a major if it meant seeing the birth of his child. Now he won’t have to, but it’s not clear how his upcoming schedule will be affected.

Congrats to Tiger, Elin and their new cub. Watch out LPGA!
