Raunchy comedian Artie Lange was just that Monday night on the debut episode of ‘Joe Buck Live,’ the new HBO Sports show hosted by sports announcer Joe Buck.  Lange was brash, rude, and coarse with Buck, but that is who Artie Lange is as a celebrity.

When Buck joked that his favorite Web site was TMZ.com, Lange pounced. He asked Buck, “What’s your second favorite?” and then created his own URL involving a sex act that we can’t print here. The onslaught never stopped. “Is that it? Lange asked, near the end of the show. “Because that’s what the president of HBO will be telling you soon.”

When I saw the previews for ‘Joe Buck Live’ yesterdayI asked on Twitter if anyone else found Buck as annoying and bad at his job as I do.  I guess if Lange was a follower he would have responded in all caps with agreement.

It is only fitting that Buck got roasted on the first night of his show by Artie.  Even the loose execs at HBO Sports almost admitted that it was over the line.

HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg said Lange “bordered on bad taste” and had a “mean-spirited” tone. Greenburg said the segment made him uncomfortable at times, but he hoped that the Favre interview (which Buck handled very well) would be the story that carried the day. “This feels like they are not going to be too complementary to his [Lange's] appearance, just judging from the reaction of the crowd. But it really is the public’s judgment. Live television is all about risk-reward and we knew who Artie Lange was when he was booked. There was a certain degree of a risk factor where he would go and where he would take us.”

At least HBO manned up to admit that they knew what they were getting when they booked Lange for the show.  If you really want your debut episode to be a hit then you probably shouldn’t book the foul-mouthed Lange unless you are attempting to duplicate the Howard Stern show.

Other guests on Monday’s show included Chad Ochocinco, Michael Irvin, David Wright, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, and an interview with Brett Favre where the legendary quarterback admitted that he is in talks with the Minnesota Vikings about returning this year.

David Letterman apologized to Sarah Palin and her two daughters, Willow and Bristol, again, last night on The Late Show (video above).  Last week Dave made a joke about Palin’s 14-year old girl having sex with Alex Rodriguez during the game (statutory rape). Letterman has claimed throughout the controversy that he thought the daughter in attendance with Governor Palin was the 18-year old daughter and not the 14-year old Willow.

Dave seemed to truly understand the outrage over his coarse joke and seemed to be somewhat sincere in his apology to the Palin family on Monday night.

Text of David Letterman’s apology to his audience, Sarah Palin, and her daughters:

“All right, here - I’ve been thinking about this situation with Governor Palin and her family now for about a week - it was a week ago tonight, and maybe you know about it, maybe you don’t know about it. But there was a joke that I told, and I thought I was telling it about the older daughter being at Yankee Stadium. And it was kind of a coarse joke. There’s no getting around it, but I never thought it was anybody other than the older daughter, and before the show, I checked to make sure in fact that she is of legal age, 18. Yeah. But the joke really, in and of itself, can’t be defended. The next day, people are outraged. They’re angry at me because they said, ‘How could you make a lousy joke like that about the 14-year-old girl who was at the ball game?’ And I had, honestly, no idea that the 14-year-old girl, I had no idea that anybody was at the ball game except the Governor and I was told at the time she was there with Rudy Giuliani…And I really should have made the joke about Rudy…” (audience applauds) “But I didn’t, and now people are getting angry and they’re saying, ‘Well, how can you say something like that about a 14-year-old girl, and does that make you feel good to make those horrible jokes about a kid who’s completely innocent, minding her own business,’ and, turns out, she was at the ball game. I had no idea she was there. So she’s now at the ball game and people think that I made the joke about her. And, but still, I’m wondering, ‘Well, what can I do to help people understand that I would never make a joke like this?’ I’ve never made jokes like this as long as we’ve been on the air, 30 long years, and you can’t really be doing jokes like that. And I understand, of course, why people are upset. I would be upset myself.

“And then I was watching the Jim Lehrer ‘Newshour’ - this commentator, the columnist Mark Shields, was talking about how I had made this indefensible joke about the 14-year-old girl, and I thought, ‘Oh, boy, now I’m beginning to understand what the problem is here. It’s the perception rather than the intent.’ It doesn’t make any difference what my intent was, it’s the perception. And, as they say about jokes, if you have to explain the joke, it’s not a very good joke. And I’m certainly - ” (audience applause) “- thank you. Well, my responsibility - I take full blame for that. I told a bad joke. I told a joke that was beyond flawed, and my intent is completely meaningless compared to the perception. And since it was a joke I told, I feel that I need to do the right thing here and apologize for having told that joke. It’s not your fault that it was misunderstood, it’s my fault. That it was misunderstood.” (audience applauds) “Thank you. So I would like to apologize, especially to the two daughters involved, Bristol and Willow, and also to the Governor and her family and everybody else who was outraged by the joke. I’m sorry about it and I’ll try to do better in the future. Thank you very much.” (audience applause)

Yesterday, we told you about a group that had set up the website FireDavidLetterman.com to stage a protest outside of the Ed Sullivan theater today to call for Letterman’s head.  Will that group show up at 4:30pm ET today as they had planned, and if so how many will be in attendance?

The first apology by Dave was extremely flawed. His apology on Monday night came across as sincere and should in all fairness to all parties bring a close to this ugly controversy.

The right wing call to fire David Letterman for his overtly sexual jokes about Sarah Palin’s 14-year old daughter have hit a crescendo with the arrival of FireDavidLetterman.com

The site has been set up to call for CBS to terminate Letterman from The Late Show over the comments about Palin’s daughter and his refusal to apologize for his sexist jokes/remarks about Palin and her minor daughter.

FireDavidLetterman.com is asking for everyone to show up at the Ed Sullivan theater on Tuesday at 4:30 ET to call for the firing of Letterman.

The site gave a sample letter that upset viewers could send to the show’s sponsors.

Dear Late Show Advertisers:

As an advertiser on the David Letterman show, you endorse his point of view, I am appalled that your company supports the rape of young girls.

On June 8th 2009 Mr. Letterman “joked” that a female Governor of the United States is “slutty” and worse still, “joked” about her 14 year-old daughter and statutory rape by an adult baseball player. He continued his slander of this young girl during his June 9th show, likening her to a prostitute. I refuse to buy products from a company who supports such a vulgar, reprehensible attitude toward women and girls.

Shame on you.

Don’t worry Letterman fans. Dave won’t be going anywhere, his sexist remarks will leave a tiny stain on his career, but open him up to martyrdom status with extreme liberals.

A ‘Fire David Letterman’ Facebook Group has also been set up.

“Iron Man” star Gwyneth Paltrow paid a visit to the brand new “Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien” on Thursday (June 4). We couldn’t really concentrate on what she was saying since we couldn’t take our eyes of her long long legs… and what was going on with her legs??

The theory is the 36 year-old actress is covered in her own greasy GOOP. It is really funny Gwyneth’s explanation for her lifestyle newsletter to be called GOOP – her nickname is GP (how original!) and she wanted it to mean something (like soup) and boom Goop was born. Nonsense!

Gwyneth also talks about her 3 year-old son’s love of Jay-Z, taking a break from acting, Robert Downey Jr. and shows Conan how to give his booty a really good exercise. Conan is hilarious!!

Eminem appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live Thursday night and tutored host Jimmy Kimmel on how to become a rap star. The skit started with Kimmel dressed like Em’ and telling him horror stories from his junior high days of yesteryear. Stories that would be considered lame by most standards.

Eminem anoints Kimmel as ‘Briefcase Joe’ before leading him to the studio, where they put an organic rap to paper, with Kimmel then rapping the veggie rhyme as its recorded.

“The Tonight Show” new host Conan O’Brien announces a new social networking site called YouTwitFace that will dominate the world in the year 3000. Conan said: “In the year 3000 YouTube, Twitter & Facebook will merge into one super time wasting website called YouTwitFace.”

Conan O’Brien made is “Tonight Show” debut on Monday (June 1) and his first musical guest was the legendary band Pearl Jam. Read more and watch Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” opening skit here.

The band that ended their 18 year contract with Sony doesn’t have a label but their upcoming album titled “Backspacer” will be released at Target this fall (September 22). Pearl Jam performed the first single, which remains unnamed, off “Backspacer” (watch video above).

Conan O’Brien kicked off his “Tonight Show” adventure with a run across the country, from New York to Los Angeles, as “Move to L.A.” was the last item on his to-do list (watch video above). Conan’s sidekick Andy Richter and Max Weinberg continues as his favorite band leader.

“I’ve timed this moment perfectly,” O’Brien deadpanned in his opening monologue. “I’m on a last-place network, I moved to a state that’s bankrupt, and tonight’s show is sponsored by General Motors.”

Conan is back! He was a bit nervous. It is not easy to replace such a legendary host like Jay Leno, who has been hosting “The Tonight Show” for seventeen years. Conan became the fifth host of the infamous talk show after Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson and Jay Leno.

“I remember watching Johnny Carson when I was a kid and thinking: That’s what I want to be when I grow up,” O’Brien said. “I’m sure right now in America there is likely a kid watching me, thinking: ‘What is wrong with that man’s hair?’”

The first guest Will Ferrell was nothing but nice to the new host offering him tips for L.A. living, including a good burger joint in Pasadena “called Burger King” and singing his own version of “Never Can Say Goodbye”. The real musical guest was Pearl Jam debuting a new song from their upcoming album “Backspacer” (watch video here).

The Cosby Show was the most popular family TV show of the 1980’s, and it is still as great today, as it was when it originally aired. The cast of the show, including the legendary Bill Cosby, got together this morning for a mini-reunion on The Today Show.

We were left with more questions than answers after a tear jerking two hour Grey’s Anatomy fifth season finale on Thursday (May 15). Just when we thought both Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and George O’Malley (T.R. Knight) have finally found their happy endings, everything changes and they are standing on the thin line between life and death.

Izzie’s brain rumor was removed. She survived but has short-term memory loss. Alex comes to her rescue and challenges her to hang on to her memories then she loses consciousness. While George became an Army doctor and shows up at Seattle Grace as a John Doe, who had jumped in front of a bus to save a woman’s life. That’s when Izzie and George finally meet in the elevator!!

So did Izzie and George die on Grey’s Anatomy Season Finale? Does it mean Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight are leaving Grey’s Anatomy??

Biggest cliff hanger ever!! Life vs. death! Katherine Heigl/Izzie Stevens wearing a prom dress and T.R. Knight/George O’Malley in an army uniform inside an elevator… and if you really want to know if they will survive, you just have to wait for next season!

House’s shocking new episode deals with the difficult issue of suicide. When Dr. Lawrence Kutner (played by Kal Penn) doesn’t show up for work, Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) sends Foreman (Omar Epps) and Hadley (Olivia Wilde) to check on him. They go to Kutner’s apartment only to find him laying in a pool of blood, apparently having committed suicide with a single gunshot.

House being House spends the rest of the episode trying to figure out why Kutner would kill himself, while two of his patients, husband and wife, are desperately trying to save the other by donating their organs to each other therefore committing suicide to save their better half.

Kutner’s death is a mystery! Fox has launched a site in tribute to Dr. Lawrence Kutner (1975 - 2009) with a memorial video, obituary and various notes from House’s characters. You can check them here at fox.com/kutner.

‘CSI’ Marg Helgenberger and her husband Alan Rosenberg have been married for 19 years and decided to take some time apart last October and try to work out their differences. Marg has finally filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences in the L.A. County Superior Court on Tuesday (March 24).

I actually thought Marg and Alan were a solid couple, made to last in the Hollywood marriage fast lane. The couple has one adult son and the 50 year-old actress asked for spousal support and is looking to split attorney fees.

Video of President Barack Obama being un-Presidential on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno making fun of the Special Olympics. The exchange took place when Leno asked Obama if he had replaced the White House bowling alley with a basketball court.

Obama: “No, No, I have been practicing bowling.”
Leno: “Really!, Really!”
Obama: “I bowled a 129.”
Leno: “That’s very good That’s very good Mr. President!” (sarcastically)
Obama: “It’s like Special Olympics or something.”

Ouch! This one might even sting the second coming of the Teflon President for a few days. Didn’t we all learn in second grade not to make fun of the handicap kids and the Special Olympics? There is a reason President Obama always has his teleprompter in front of him.

Obama’s press secretary Robert Gibbs is going to have a fun day in a few hours. He very possibly might break his ‘ummmmm’ record which stands at 57.

Barack has had a busy week in giving his NCAA March Madness picks on ESPN, appearing on Leno, and confessing to Leno that he has been practicing his bowling in the White House.

Designer and TV host Jennifer Farrell let us tag along with her this week for her second appearance, in as many weeks, on The View.  We were able to take several behind-the-scenes photos of Jennifer (see below) before and after the taping.  The show, based in New York,  filmed three days this week in Los Angeles.

Brothers & Sisters stars Sally Field and Calista Flockhart stopped by The View on Tuesday, in Los Angeles, for a chat with the women.  Sally looked amazing as always.  Can you believe she is 62-years old?  We were lucky enough to have a front row seat for these great photos.  The photos might not do her justice, but Calista is the skinniest woman we have seen this side of the ocean.

The show airs this Friday on ABC and also stars Jennifer Farrell, Spencer Pratt, and Heidi Montag.

The View is filming in Los Angeles this week and we were right there, in the middle of the madness.  We got these exclusive photos from the first row of Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag who were on the taping yesterday (show airs March 13, 2009).  The Bump Wife sent me the photos as the show was being recorded on Tuesday.

She emailed me one of Spencer during the middle of the taping with the subject line: ‘Tool’.  She had no clue who Spencer was before seeing him there, so I found her instant analysis of him extremely funny, since that is the public’s prevailing view about him.

“Iron Chef America” star Cat Cora and her lesbian lover, life partner Jennifer are both pregnant and due just three months apart. Jennifer will be the first to give birth then Cat. Ironically the couple, who used in-vitro fertilization, finally they got pregnant together.

“Jennifer and I are thrilled to go through the wonderful experience of pregnancy together. We started the in-vitro process 5 years ago,” said Cora, who is due in July. “This has been a miracle for us and we’ll now have 4 beautiful children.”

Jennifer and Cat already have two sons together. They will have a lot of trouble explaining to their children who is mommy and biological mommy. Jennifer doesn’t know the real biological mother of the baby she is carrying since both of Cat and Jennifer’s embryos were implanted in her. Romantic detail: they don’t want to know who the real mom is!

Cat is carrying Jennifer’s biological child for the second time. This is just way too complicated to understand or explain but these women have some standards – they have used the same sperm donor for all of their 4 children so they are all related by a big egg-sperm-implantation mess!

Happy housewife Marge Simpson and friend Lindsay Neagle got involved in a very passionate lesbian kiss in the latest episode of the mythic animated sitcom “The Simpsons“. Marge is not switching teams! Apparently the lesbian kiss happens in one of Homer’s dirty fantasies in the episode titled “How The Test Was Won“.

Girl on girl action is a new trend in Hollywood. A girl cannot be hot enough or relevant enough if she wasn’t seen kissing a girl, rumored to be dating a girl or even singing about kissing girls.

Actress Eliza Dushku has been working hard on promoting Fox’s new wannabe hit show, Dollhouse, where she plays Echo, a member of an underground group of “Actives” — a cross between high-tech call girls (and boys) and secret agents who can be imprinted with any personality and shipped out to do the bidding of powerful clients.

By working hard I mean taking her clothes off any chance she gets! Eliza has to work hard on making Dollhouse a success since she is also one of the producers of the show. Not only has she stripped off her Dollhouse promos but she did it again for Maxim Magazine.

On how she came up with such a brilliant idea to make Dollhouse: “We came up with the general idea of a young woman who’s being pulled in every direction and someone wants her to be a different person every day. … Four hours into the lunch we were incredibly excited and he got up to go to the rest room and literally came back and sat down and looked at me over the crusts of the gouda pizza that I bought him for lunch and just said, “It’ll be called, ‘Dollhouse.’”

On her love for bad boys: “I like guys who play hard and have calluses on their hands. Any guy who’s been raised in a bubble hasn’t lived enough for me. Scars and broken body parts and tattoos are hot.”
