Video: Alien UFO Flies Over Obama Inauguration

Here is the much talked about video of the alien (what the heck else could be in it) UFO that supposedly flew over the Inauguration of Barack Obama on Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

“If that’s a bird, it’s a damn big bird!” - I love the Talladega Nights commentary on this video.

So is the object in the video a UFO or something else?

Katrina Hodge to Compete for Title of Miss England

Sexy Combat Barbie Katrina Hodge

British Army L/Cpt Katrina Hodge rose to fame back in 2005 as ‘Combat Barbie’ after she saved the lives of several soldiers in her regiment while fighting in Iraq.

L/Cpl Hodge was nicknamed Combat Barbie in 2005 after being given a bravery commendation for saving the lives of members of her regiment in Iraq.

They were held at gunpoint when their vehicle overturned but L/Cpl Hodge punched the gunman and took his rifles.

Now ‘Combat Barbie’ is up for the title of Miss England.  If she wins the beauty pageant she would go on to compete in the Miss World pageant.

“I was delighted to have been selected for the Miss England final and it is a great honour,” she added.

“Being a part-time model and a serving soldier is certainly a world apart. I want to use this competition to highlight the work that the Army are doing and what they have done for this country.”

Her story reminds me of Sgt. Jill Stevens who won the title of Miss Utah and competed in the Miss USA pageant earlier this year.

Prince Harry Recalled from Afghanistan

Prince Harry in Afghanistan

The Brits have pulled Prince Harry from Afghanistan after Matt Drudge disclosed on The Drudge Report that Harry was indeed in Afghanistan as a solider fighting the Taliban.

Here is why Prince Harry was sent home according to People.

“Following a detailed assessment of the risks by the operational chain of command, the decision has been taken … to withdraw Prince Harry from Afghanistan immediately,” the Ministry of Defense confirmed in a statement. “This decision has been taken primarily on the basis that the worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier.”

I doubt Prince Harry will be too happy that he has been pulled from the war zone.  He seems to want to be like every other solider.  His fellow soldiers have said glowing things about Harry as a person and soldier.

General Butt Naked Confesses to Killing 20,000 People

General Butt Naked

Joshua Milton Blahyi, better known as General Butt Naked, has confessed to killing 20,000 people in Liberia.  He earned his nickname by leading his platoon charging into battle to terrorize them before killing them.

Blahyi is now a preacher spreading the good word and looking for forgiveness himself.

The civil war, which killed an estimated 250,000 people in this nation of 3 million, was characterized by the eating of human hearts and soccer matches played with human skulls. Drugged fighters waltzed into battle wearing women’s wigs, flowing gowns and carrying dainty purses stolen from civilians.

Before he led his fighters into battle, wearing only a pair of lace-up boots, Blahyi said he made a human sacrifice to the devil.

The sacrifice was typically “the killing of an innocent child and plucking out the heart which was divided into pieces for us to eat,” he told The Associated Press on Saturday. He appeared before the commission Jan. 15.

Blahyi is in Liberia to apologize and ask forgiveness for his past crimes and transgressions.  Liberia has set up a ‘truth and reconciliation committee’ that is basically without power.  Many are calling for a war crimes court not a reconciliation committee.

The committee can’t charge killers with a crime but can possibly recommend charges be brought.

The full story has even more horrifying details of the 250,000 that were killed in Liberia during it’s civil war.

The Great Sir Edmund Hillary Dies at 88

Edmund Hillary

The first man to climb Mount Everest, Sir Edmund Hillary, has passed away at the ripe old age of 88.  He passed away from a heart attack in a New Zealand hospital.

Hillary became the first human to conquer Mt. Everest on May 29, 1953.  He was the original extreme sport. It is 29,028 feet to the summit of Everest.

He was 33-years-old at the time he climbed to the top of  the  peak with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay.

“Awe, wonder, humility, pride, exaltation — these surely ought to be the confused emotions of the first men to stand on the highest peak on Earth, after so many others had failed,” Hillary wrote of the conquest achieved by him and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay on May 29, 1953.

“But my dominant reactions were relief and surprise. Relief because the long grind was over and the unattainable had been attained. And surprise, because it had happened to me, old Ed Hillary, the beekeeper, once the star pupil of the Tuakau District School, but no great shakes at Auckland Grammar [high school] and a no-hoper at university.”

Queen Elizabeth II made Hillary a knight during the first week of her crowning on July 16, 1953.

He also was the first man to stand on both the North and South Poles along with Mt. Everest.

Hillary donated much of his time and resources to help the people of Nepal through the Himalayan  Trust he started in 1962.

He lost a daughter and his first wife to a plane crash in the Himalayan Mountains.  Sir Edmund returned often to the region and climbed to the top of most of the peaks around Everest.

Ole’ Ed Hillary will be missed but his adventuresome spirit will live on.

Miss Belgium Booed by Dutch Nationals

Alizee Poulicek Miss Belgium

Newly crowned Miss Belgium, Alizee Poulicek, was booed by many in attendance after she answered a judges question in French instead of Dutch.  Poulicek speaks French, English and Czech but not Dutch.

After she failed to answer a question in elementary Dutch and switched to French during Saturday night’s competition, 20-year-old Alizee Poulicek was booed by some of the 3,400 fans in Antwerp, the heart of Dutch-speaking Flanders.

In a country that has been without a government for nearly 200 days because of continued strife between Dutch- and French-speaking parties, the beauty queen’s linguistic abilities has taken on larger significance.

12 U.N Employees Missing in Algiers Car Bombings

Twelve United Nations employees and over 45 people were killed early Tuesday in Algiers, Algeria, after two car bombs exploded in the African city.  The bombs blew off the front of the U.N. refugee agency building.  The U.N. employees are likely dead.

Car bombs exploded minutes apart Tuesday in central Algiers, heavily damaging a U.N. building and ripping the facade off the wing of a government office. Officials said 45 people were killed, and that 12 U.N. employees were missing.

Suspicions quickly focused on the North African wing of al-Qaida. The date — the 11th — could point to an Islamic terror link. Al-Qaida in Islamic North Africa claimed responsibility for attacks on April 11 that hit the prime minister’s office and a police station, killing 33 people.

Algiers is the capital city of Algeria and the largest city in North Africa.  The metropolitan area at last count had over 3.5 million people.

Pearl Harbor Day (Attack on Hawaii)

Attack on Pearl Harbor

The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor happened 66 years ago today (December 7, 1941). The surprise attack was a “day that shall live in infamy” as President Roosevelt said at the time. Today is a day of remembrance and to give thanks to those who died at Pearl Harbor and the thousands of soldiers who died in World War II overseas to defeat Adolf Hitler and the Axis of Evil.

The attack wrecked two U.S. Navy battleships, one minelayer, and two destroyers beyond repair, and destroyed 188 aircraft; personnel losses were 2,333 killed and 1,139 wounded. Damaged warships included three cruisers, a destroyer, and six battleships (one deliberately grounded, later refloated and repaired; two sunk at their berths, later raised, repaired, and restored to Fleet service late in the war). Vital fuel storage, shipyards, and submarine facilities were not hit. Japanese losses were minimal, at 29 aircraft and five midget submarines, with 65 servicemen killed or wounded.

Franklin Roosevelt told his assistant, “This means war.”, after reading an intercepted message. The message was not passed on to those at Pearl Harbor and the attacks happened the very next day on December 7th. The attack was not the start of World War II but it was the catastrophic event that was the motivational factor for the U.S. entering World War II.

The Japanese did not surrender until August 15, 1945 after the U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. August 15th is known as V-J day or ‘Victory in Japan’ day.

Estimates put the number of casualties from WW II as high as 60 million with 40 million of those being civilians. Nearly 27 million Russians alone died in the war. About 85% of the deaths in the war were on the Allied side with the Axis of Evil just having about 15%. Genocide, starvation, disease and massacres killed most of the civilians. Over 10 million Jews died in Hitler’s concentration camps.

Today is a day of remembrance and to give thanks to those that served in World War II. They truly are our ‘Greatest Generation’ and are dying off very quickly. My grandfather served in WW II and Korea and he has so many stories that you won’t find in a history book. If you know of a veteran of the war then ask him about it. He would probably love to share his stories and your gratitude for his service will be very appreciated.

Cameron Diaz Apologizes for Purse of Terrorism

Photo: Cameron Diaz's Mao Handbag

Cameron Diaz is apologizing after offending Peruvians with her handbag over the weekend. Cameron, Mao Zedong and Peruvians just don’t mix.

“I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have inadvertently offended. The bag was a purchase I made as a tourist in China and I did not realize the potentially hurtful nature of the slogan printed on it,” Diaz said in a statement e-mailed to The Associated Press.

“I’m sorry for any people’s pain and suffering and it was certainly never my intention to reopen what I now know is a painful wound in this country’s history and wish for their continued healing,” she said.

And just why were the good people of Peru so offended?

The voice of Princess Fiona in the animated “Shrek” films visited the Incan city of Machu Picchu in Peru’s Andes on Friday wearing an olive green bag emblazoned with a red star and the words “Serve the People” printed in Chinese, perhaps Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong’s most famous political slogan.

The bags are marketed as fashion accessories in some world capitals, but in Peru the slogan evokes memories of the Maoist Shining Path insurgency that fought the government in the 1980s and early 1990s in a bloody conflict that left nearly 70,000 people dead.

Yikes! She is lucky she didn’t get a bullet in her gut or a knife through her aorta.
